Poured into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint glass. Pours a deep orange/reddish. When held up to the light you can really see the color and notice it is hazy with what may be some small orange/grapefruit zest floating in it. This beer has an off-white colored foam head with phenomenal lacing to it, that lasted the entire session. The smell is quite potent. Where you can see the citrus in it, the pine hops dominate the smell with some floral and citrus notes to it as well and maybe some caramel malts to it. Taste is also very strong, again the hops take most of the flavor followed by some roasted malts and a slight alcohol bite at the end. Mouthfeel is pretty good. Has a slight alcohol bite too it, not as strong as I expected considering it's 11.5%, not full bodied, fairly lite. I sipped through most of it with a small meal, but this beer is very drinkable and refreshing. Great IPA for a nice summer day/afternoon/evening.

while new to this rating system id descibe this beer in taste a lot like BJ's Brewmaster's Reserve Goliath Imperial Red Ale though really did like that beer while a bit hoppy the overall taste is great what can i say other then i was surprised by its taste i was honestly expecting to only taste the alcohol considering i mostly drink beers in the 4-6% range and this is 11.5 it went down easy flying dog made a local happy

A - Dark orange. 1" head that lasts a few minutes, with some lacing.

S - Piney and aromatic.

T - A very well-balance ale. A little sweet, piney, herby, hoppy. ABV is well-hidden.

M - Not much carbonation, but it's a very smooth and mellow feel.

O - a nice ale, quite drinkable.
