A - Hazy orangish bronze color with a large, foamy, creamy, fluffy, slightly sticky, off-white color. Decent retention with a nice creamy layer of lace.
S - Fairly good amount of sweet caramel malt for the style. Citrus, pine and floral. Some alcohol is present as well, reminds me a bit of a barleywine in the aroma.
T - Similar to the nose with a very barleywine like taste. Very strong and bitter hop presence with floral and citrus hops. Some fruity (especially apple and cherry) that tasted as though it was soaked in some kind of liqueur. Slight fruity and syrupy sweetness on the finish. Some caramel malt is in the background and provides a bit of a base, but this is really covered up by the bitterness and alcohol heat.
M - Pretty full body with a good level of carbonation. Full creamy thick feel that is a little syrup like.
D - Really big and bold bitterness and alcohol heat make this definitely a sipper. Seems a little much for me to be all that drinkable.
Notes: Seems much more like a barleywine than a DIPA. Full of big and bold hop bitterness and alcohol heat. Very strong beer and I could see being in the mood for it from time to time, but it just seems a little out of balance to me. Worth trying, especially if you want a big, strong beer.
