ORIGINAL REVIEW:
Serving type: bottle
Reviewed on: 05-18-2008

Deep reddish orange with a true white head that fades quiet quickly.

A sweet malty hop aroma. A warm caramel scent hits the nose near the end.

Lots and lots of hops, caramel malt and chocolate malts with a large over tone of alcohol. This beer needs to mellow out a little bit. They of course would smooth out the hops.

It's a thick mouthful. The hops are just so overwhelming that this one becomes a tough one for the stomach to handle on a hotter day.

I could have a few of these. Especially with dinner. Thankfully this brew comes in a 4 pack. I couldn't handle 6 of these puppies.

BTW: Shells with meat sauce!

New Review:
Deep amber orange with a nice tick ring around the edges. Great sticking.

Smells of back woods forest pine, deep burnt oak with notes of caramel and brandied cherries with a slight hint of orange peels, lime peels and some tiny tiny hints of grapefruit.

Thick, juicy pininess like a hot, humid day in the woods. Definite flavors of oak, lightly charred. Very bitter and balanced by the citrus peels, caramel malt and brandied cherries.

Huge hop flavor keeps the mouth feeling full and the lower level of carbonation and the apparent thickness keep this beer flowing smoothly into the mouth and heart. The ABV is so unapparent that this beer is totally balanced. Incredible.

This is a very delicious beer but the ABV makes this a mean MFer. A little to smooth for its' ABV and the fact that it's only a 4 pack.

Yeah once again, shells and sauce.

Pours a clear copper with a finger of head that lingered for a decent amount of time. The nose had both grapefruit and hop notes. The flavor profile is relatively well balanced between malts and hops. The big flaw of this offering is the finish. The alcohol bite is far too obtrusive and unfortunately dampens the whole tasting experience.
