Courtesy of one of the Beautiful Bride's colleagues who brought this stuff to a cookout a couple of weeks back. Into a Mason jar it goes...
Nice chunky meringue-like head. About 2 fingers at first, dissipating down to 1. Fair amount of yeasties/floaties in there amongst the grapefruit/pineapple-colored body. Visible quick carbonation.
Good yeast electricity...nice sourdough tones. Lots of coriander...a little ginger maybe. Slightly heavy for style with a decent level of hoppiness (can't place the variety at the moment - mix of Saaz and Styrian Goldings?).
Taste is a bit on the salty side. Sure, there's decent spice and a little bit of hoppiness but not too much else. OK for style but overall it's lacking a bit.
Palate feel is OK but equally salty alongside the flavor profile. Doesn't deliver the desired result - a calm but fuller-bodied and spritely spiciness that I expect from a Wit.
It's one of those beers that's best suited for drinking and less suited for thinking. As soon as I wrote down my thoughts I didn't like it as much. As Crash Davis told Nuke LaLoosh in Bull Durham, "Don't think...you can only hurt the ballclub."
