Purchased a 6pk at Wegmans in Warrington, PA

Purchase price: $11.99

Poured and enjoyed in a DFH Pint Glass

A - Pours a semi-transparent, golden/honey color. A two finger head on the initial pour. Lazy bubbles rising from the bottom. Lots of blotchy lacing left on the glass.

S - A nice combination of hops, a slight fruitiness and the banana aroma associated with Belgians.

T - A different type of taste. You get the hoppiness and pine-like taste of an IPA but it finishes with the familar yeasty, banana-flavor that I taste in most Belgians. A bitter ending to the sip. The alcohol is there but it doesn't overpower the beer or ruin its taste.

M - A medium consistency, light to moderate carbonation. A lingering bitterness is left after drinking. Slightly dry.

O - I like the comination of flavors that the Raging Bitch offers. It's a different combination for sure but the overall taste is enjoyable. Give it a try if your a fan of IPA's and you're looking for a twist on the style.

Cheers!

Bottle poured into Samuel Smiths Organic Wheat Beer Glass

A - Thick white head, took a while to reduce and left some white lacing on the glass.

S - Hemp, Citrus

T - Malty and Caramel, Bitter hop finish, not too dry on the aftertaste and the high alcohol content is hard to detect until a lot after

M - As I said, not a dry aftertaste. The strength of the alcohol does come along after a while but only as an afternote. It's actually quite a supreme aftertaste and the belgian method and yeast comes through.

All in all a really good beer.

I was disappointed in this beer. I have had it in the past, and thought that it was pretty decent, but for some reason, it didn't taste all that great this time around. It seemed pretty fresh, with a 2014 brew date.

The smell is... strange. I read lots of references about "citrus" and "grapefruit." To me, it smelled a bit sour with... I know this sounds crazy... a hint of burning hemp. Kind of like sitting in the nosebleed section of an indoor arena during a Pink Floyd concert, circa 1977.

The taste is also kind of sour rather than hoppy. This one definitely leaves an aftertaste, not unlike the taste some of us sometimes have when we first wake up in the morning.

I am glad that I only purchased a single bottle of this one this time around. I don't know... maybe this bottle was from a bunch that wasn't stored properly for awhile before being refrigerated at the retailer. I am willing to come back to this one again after some time to give it another shot.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a 10oz, Raging Bitch '20th Anniversary' short-stemmed glass...Best By Date: 190B14 - This translates it being bottled on (or about) March 9, 2014.

A- Pours an absolutely beautiful, clear, deep sunset orange with about 1 fingers' worth of white, sea-foam head. Being a Belgian inspired ale, I would have thought it would be a bit lighter in color. (4.75)

S- Being that I've never consumed Raging Bitch this fresh, the aroma is absolutely crazy! Pine, Lemon/Lime, Grapefruit, Passionfruit, Bubblegum and Spice all blend in harmony. The aromatics are aggressive and on the bitter side of the spectrum...very intense. (4.75)

T- Sweet malt at the front of the palate, followed by some tropical fruitiness and then a pretty significant pine/grapefruit rind bitterness to finish things out. The flavors move rather quickly across the palate and the beer finishes quite dry. (4.25)

M- The beer has a medium body and the carbonation is moderate (much less than a traditional Belgian Golden Strong or Belgian Pale Ale). Additionally, the palate is coated with an oily, piney, resinous character making this an aggressive brew. (4.50)

O- Not for the faint of heart, this is a high octane brew with regards to aroma, flavor and alcohol. For its proclaimed status of 'Belgian IPA,' I think Flying Dog has absolutely nailed the style. I am happy that this is a year-round offering and will be back for more. (4.75)
