Poured from a 12 oz bottle
A - Pours a dark golden color with excellent clarity and a billowing, thick, off-white two finger head. Decent retention and a loose, sticky lace.
S - Aroma is a bit fruity with hints of clove, banana, and a citrusy-orange hop presence. Some toasted malt character as well.
T&M - Relatively subtle hop presence well balanced with the malt character of this brew. Citrus hop notes are on the fruity side, paired with a fruity phenolic character. Lighter carbonation with a full bodied feel; leaves a slight dryness and medicinal flavor on the palate.
O - Decent brew, not quite sure how "Belgian" this is...feels a bit muddled at times. Not bad, but so many better IPA's out there, Belgian or not.
-re-reviewed 3/22/11, partly because I forgot that I had already had this, and partly because I know so much more now then I knew then
