Poured from 12oz bottle.
A- Pours a coppery orange color. One and a half eggshell white head shows medium retention. Nice streaked lacing on the sides of the glass.
S- Belgian yeast right in the front of the aroma. Citrus hops come in next with light notes are blended toward the ending of the belgian yeast. Not much malt in the aroma but some does come through in a light doughy biscuity scent.
T- Citrus hops in the front of the beer goes hand in hand with a warming alcohol right off the get go. Bready malts do come in the middle which shows up more in the flavor than in the aroma. Piney hops in the ending of the beer bring this one full circle although I never really picked up on the belgian yeast at all in the flavor of the beer. Alcohol comes through as well in the ending with a heavier warming alcohol.
M- Medium mouthfeel. Carbonation is good for the style. Citrus hops and light bready malts are left on the palate. Aftertaste is mostly warming alcohol, bready malts and hints of piney hops. Flavors were not really balanced for what it said it was going to be as I didn't catch much belgian style to this. No off flavors were detected while drinking this. Medium alcohol drying left on the palate.
O- This beer was alright but not at all what I was thinking it was going to be. The ABV really stuck out and not always in a good way. A nice try from Flying Dog but I think they missed the mark a little bit. I wish the yeast would have come out more than it did..or lack there of.
