Pours a brown golden color with lots of frothy head. Some citrus in the aroma, as the hops are overpowered by the Belgian yeast and malts.

Taste is smooth for an IPA that seems to more of a DIPA. Well-balanced, but the malt definitely is in control over the hops. Compared to American IPAs, this isn't all that hoppy.

Overall, not bad. Nice aroma, but too much malt even for a Belgian IPA.

The firm large warm beige head is compact. It sinks slowly leaving some lacing. The liquid is gold-orange and clear.

The smell is Belgian with soapy-yeasty flavours. Hints of plastic. Citric hops, but not much of bitterness.

The taste starts off with a grand bitterness, almost like a DIPA. Some phenolic yeasty flavours and a tart hint of wheat. Clean flavours, medium to full body. Fruit candy and a sweetness that is powerful without being sharp. Alcohol and hops in the aftertaste; it is smooth and balanced. Ripe exotic fruits (banana, lemon, peach, pineapple). Sweetness and alcohol in the finish.
The carbonation is light, the small bubbles smooth. The liquid is medium smooth.

A very Belgian brew. Pleasant.

A gifted bottle, served in a pint glass. Reviewed from notes.

Pours a very clear shade of auburn. A half-finger white head really lasts, great retention here.

A nice, no-nonsense aroma. Robust but not overpowering hop presence, with an evident smell of pineapple. Fairly bready, with a nice yeast character to round things out. Quite balanced.

The taste is surprisingly sweet, but it works. Pretty big notes of butterscotch, with characteristically Belgian bubblegum and lemons as well. The flavors play off of each other well, and the muted hop flavor seems to work.

The carb is great, this is lively and really drinkable. ABV aside, this is very easy to drink.

A really solid Belgian IPA, one that I'd gladly pick up again.

A: Rich clear amber color. 2 Finger white head with tight bubbles. Slowly dissipates to a thin film with nice lacing and some alcohol legs.

S: Belgian yeast dominate with pine, and citrus hops. Like Belgium getting some California love.

T: Like the nose leads on, Belgian yeast hits you up front and the beer finishes with both caramel like sweetness and a hop bitterness. Overall a nice clean finish and lingering aftertaste. The malt and the hops come together to create balance.

M: Medium body and carbonation. Finishes crisp, clean and smooth leaving you wanting for more. Mild alcohol warmth. Well hidden for 8.3%.

O: Very good representation of this style. If you are one who is not a hop-head this is an accessible brew because of its balance. Give it a try.

Glass: Tulip.

Temp: 40 F.

Sharp and startling bitter ale. The color is a classic amber color in the chalice. Nice foam and richly carbonated on the tongue. Quite bitter and hopped up. Hot with alcohol. A thin, almost harsh mouthfeel. So woody and astringent. Nose of honey, for some reason. Clear, clean, and like a bullet. Really sharp, it's beyond tangy. 60 IBU on a light body.

I'd call it an IPA with some Belgian flavors. But it's a wilder IPA than a lot of the pack. Apparently they jiggled a bottle enough for Ralph Steadman to notice and pontificate about it. 12 oz bottle from Best Damn beer store in San Diego.
