12oz brown bottle. Batch 2.
Look: Pitch black, opaque, fizzy near non-existent head.
Smell: Basically, an iced coffee with cream and sugar.
Taste: Thickish, smooth, robust, bitter, roasty, coffee grinds, sweet, Muscovado sugar, chocolate, fruity, smokey, leather, vodka, dry, grind and chocolate linger.
As far as coffee stouts go, this is a solid brew. Disappointed with the head (none) and carbonation (essentially flat) though. I think tweaking those two things could bump up the eye candy and provide more fun for the palate.

Vintage 2010. 12 oz bottle into a tulip glass. Pours a black body that lets some light through. Quick fading mocha head with a thin edging. Moderate lacing. Smells ashy and smokey. A bit of chocolate and a weird coffee aroma, not really pleasant. Taste is the same. Faded coffee beans, chocolate, a bit of ash and then the unmistakable taste of an oxidized stout. Its not that bad and it is drinkable....but I just can't help but wonder what this must have been like fresh. Way over the hill at this point.

This is one of those coffee brews that is going for power over finesse. And with that in mind, it carries it well. Nice full coffee tones on a thick bodied stout. With such a bold presentation, it's hard to get subtle details. But for what it is, it's nice.

A- Thick almost black pour with tan head that does not disappear right away.
S- Coffee and roasted malts come through the most.
T- Very strong coffee flavor up front, roasted malts in the finish.
M- Very creamy and thick mouthfeel very light carbonation.
O- Very impressed with this offering, unique mouthfeel and very strong coffee flavors. Definitely an "imperial coffee stout."

Bought around October 2010 from a serial-numbered 6-pack, consuming at the moment while reviewing.
A= deep dark near-black brown with a glistening appearance. Slight head, slight lacing.
S= Starbucks Colombian or maybe Espresso up-front, dark malts, burnt molasses and some roasted nuts.
T= up-front it's slightly too sweet for my preferences but otherwise nicely complex; dark sweet roasted malts, slight liquor hints, dry coffee and dark chocolate.
M= slightly cloying but with a nice dark coffee and chocolate on the tongue and palate, lasting for a few minutes to savor.
O= if the sweetness were toned down I'd be thrilled with this rendition.
