12oz brown bottle

LOOK: Clear shiny bronze, beautiful sudsy head

SMELL: Orange zest, vague mint, fresh cut grass, spicy, papaya, clean esters

TASTE: Light smoothness, slightly creamy, medium bodied, very orangey, peel, zest, pith, pulp, bread crust, ample bitterness, tropical fruit, nutty grain, hoppy drying finish

Love when breweries do single hop beers, here you get a full on attack of Centennial with a great base 10% abv beer and only balanced to style so it is very hop forward.

So I was trying this beer for th first time after a Flying Dog Brewery Tour. Nothing like straight from the Factory flavor. Our tour guide said this beer was brewed in the same fashion as the Raging Bitch, but only using one hop variety "Centennial" unlike Raging Bitch which uses three different varietals in the brewing process.

The beer pour golden and is translucent. Ice cold. Carbonation was moderate to heavy like most Flying Dog Beers. During their process they force carbonation adding a little extra zip.

As for the aroma this compared to the other Single Hop Imperial IPAs was the most pungent. I thought it was the most bitter between the two others I tried Chinook and Citra. The taste was light in respect to other breweries that focus on Ales and was very crisp. I ended up buying a growler of the Single Hop Imperial IPA but preffered the Chinook.

A good hoppy beer, recent purchase from Capone's. Very orange citrus, with some lemon, up front hops, yet not a palate eraser. The malt adds to the taste. Good drinkability, above average mouthfeel. Orange coloured body. Nice hop aroma.A little boozy.

The Flying Dog Centiennial Hop Imperial IPA was on tap at our local watering hole. It is a big beer. The appearance was quite nice...only draw back was the thin head and missing lacing of the glass. The color was a clear rich amber. The smell was very "fresh" like being near a pine forest. The taste however carried more apricot/grapfruit taste. There was definite malt balance which kept the bitterness down...however, teh bitterness clung to teh pallet. The mouthfeel was tough because the Alcohol was absolutely present....not enough malt or hop to cover @10%!!!

On tap @ Bulls & Bears. Poured a sightly hazy orange/bronze color with a small but thick pillowy white head. Nice lacing as well.
Aroma is one dimensional but a nice citrus hop smell throughout.
taste is moderatley sweet. Orange and grapefruit flavors. Hoppy and a bitter finish.
It's chewy with a resiny finish that lingers with a bit more bitterness than the first few sips.
I like this better than Flying Dog's Simcoe but not quite on the level of the El Dorado.

Poured on tap into a snifter as part of a group tasting at ChurchKey DC.

A super sticky ridiculous laced white head of off white color, sitting on a clear body of orange amber. Crystal clear with big huge impressive lacing.

Nose is sugary citrus hop, giving to grapefruit but more sweetness it seems in smell, with a soft malt body. Solid and inviting.

A chewy mild hop in the palate, with a mix of grass and citrus bringing even some dense malt body. Great texture and a hint of thickness without bringing oil slickness or syrup body.

Overall this is delicious and doesn't even feel like a high abv beer too. Really dig this chewy texture and this disappeared really fast for me. Quite enjoyable!

Bottle into glass

A - Clear golden color with a medium sized off-white creamy head with good retention, slowly recedes to a thin film on top. Leaves heavy lacing

S - Orange, Grapefruit, booze, light malt

T - Grapefruit and lemon, then orange, bread, alcohol bite, sweetness, and a little caramel malt, got very boozy as it warmed

M - Heavy and creamy mouthfeel, moderate/low carbonation

O - An interesting and enjoyable brew, a little on the sweet side. Began to taste a lot like booze as it warmed up
