Appearance: Great looking beer! Pours a clear amber orange, with a strong orange tint when held up to the light. Very thick creamy white head on the pour, with good head retention.
Smell: Some smokiness, some alcohol coming off, but not overpowering
Taste: Dominant taste is a smokiness, with some sweet malt. Primarily a barbeque smokiness, with a hint of burnt rubber. Not an unpleasant taste, but not very complex.
Mouthfeel: Smooth, good creamy texture.
Overall: The smokiness dominates the flavor, but it is not overpowering. I just think this is a one-dimensional beer. Nice to look at, not that great to drink.

look: 3.5 | smell: 4 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.5

A - Pours with one finger of off white foam on top of a clear, golden brown body. The head settles fairly quickly and leaves light lace.

S - Toffee, dark bread, and a bit of sweet smoke.

T - Sweet, bready malt up front with some toffee. Some light smoke and meaty notes in the middle and a finish of caramel, sweet, peaty smoke, and a lingering, acrid bitterness.

M - A medium light body, average carbonation, and a dry finish.

D - This is an odd beer, it doesn't have much in common with the traditional German smoked beers, but manages to do pretty well... Until the finish. There is a sharp, acrid bitterness that turns the smoke harsh in the aftertaste, if this wasn't present it would be a pretty good beer, but the harshness is hard to ignore.

A: thin head on a amber with slight golden hue body. nice lacing.

S: sweet caramel malts, slight mesquite note. very clean aroma.

T: sweet caramel malts and breads, mesquite and smokiness throughout with a slight burning sensation to the finish. earthy hops as well but these are mild

M: medium body and moderate carbonation.

Overall: I think the beer is well made for what it is rying to be. It captures enough of the smokiness to make this amber ale different without going overboard or being a full rauchbier which some people may not enjoy.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a glass.

A - Pours a nice burgundy color with little to no head. 60% opaque.

S - tons of smokiness, some caramel, some sweetness.

T - initially, the taste is okay, but as it warms, it gets better. There's not a whole lot of hops. It is more malty and sweet. There is definitely smoke and meat flavors coming out. Kind of like smoke wafting off of a grill, which is what they are going for, I guess. Would be better to eat some food with this. This is not a session beer.

M - not bad. Smooth enough. Not thin but not chewy. Can't taste too much alcohol.

O - this beer seems like it would be a good pairing beer, but I am not too impressed with it on its own.

Poured from the bottle into a standard pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy dark amber color with a half finger of creamy off white head. The head sticks around pretty well and leaves a nice layer on top of the pour.

Smell: Slightly smokey and sweet from the malt. I'm getting just a hint of hops and some dark fruit.

Taste: Smokey up front, but this still has a fairly light flavor. Some fruity notes along with yeast and mild hope. The smoke sticks around through the finish with a dark fruit note and a slight bitterness.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with smooth, tingly carbonation and a dry finish.

Overall: As the name suggests, this would be a very nice barbecue beer. Not too heavy given the abv, I'd have another given the chance.
