Poured into a goblet, jet black with a finger of light brown head.
Sweet coffee/chocolate on the nose. Roasty malts, maple syrup, leathery, but smells very sweet. Very mochaish.
Taste follows the nose. Bittersweet coffee and chocolate. Very delicious. Very slight booze afterburn. Simply a very tasty stout. Reminds me of Breakfast Stout (possibly my favorite beer).
Slick and sticky all at once. Lower carbonation which works well here. Coffee aftertaste is nice.
Overall a great example of what a coffee stout should be. Flying Dog is one of the first breweries I got into and this is a big reason why. If you love Founders Breakfast Stout like I do, you'll love this.

Poured into my fav. prohibition pig glass. Light tan head, fades fast, leaves lacing, some floating islands of carbonation, crescent moon head floating around the edge of the glass. Opaque and black. Essentially an ok appearance. The aroma is mostly milk chocolate and or semi-sweet chocolate. Faint somewhat plastic like faux vanilla aroma. Not much coffee to speak of, though I suppose its there. The flavor is more of the same....milk chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate, a bit of that faux vanilla thing. Truthfully very little coffee flavor makes itself present in the flavor save for the bit that appears on the finish of the beer. The mouthfeel is rich, moderately luxurious. Overall this beer is a one note beer, it does not exhibit depth of flavor or complexity. That being said the one note tastes good and I do not mind sipping this beer at all.
