Appearance: Orange with great lacing.

Smell: Flowers, orange, and clay. Excellent balance for an IPA.

Taste/Mouthfeel: Same as the flavor. Maybe a bit too much clay. Amazing mouthfeel. Very active carbonation and a medium-full body.

Overall: A very good IPA. Underrated due to its saison-like qualities.

Serving type: on-tap

I keep telling myself I won't buy any more Belgian IPAs. Then I buy another Belgian IPA. Honestly, as far as the style goes, this isn't that bad. The hop profile works out fairly well with the sweet yeast, and there's a lingering hop that isn't that bad at all. I still don't think the specific combination of the sweet, banana-y yeast and American hops works out though. I've enjoyed a handful of Belgian IPAs, but they've all strayed away from the overly banana-y flavor profile. If you actually enjoy Belgian IPAs, you might like this. It's obvious that the style has done great for Flying Dog, since this is their second Belgian IPA to get bottled. But, much like Raging Bitch, I can't recommend it.

Pours a pretty clear gold with half a finger of a white head

Smell is grassy, banana, spice, a tiny bit of tropical fruit, clove

Taste is strange, really spicy, almost like rib rub spicy, banana, belgiany yeast, Dill Pickle, very bitter earth hops, strange bitter aftertaste, really not my bag

Mouthfeel is fine for the style, medium light with sharp carbonation

Maybe I am spoiled here in WI with IMO the best Belgian IPA that is avaliable in the world, but with that said I had a lot of them and this just is odd....

Smell is interesting in a good way, taste is interesting in a bad way... Tastes like a terrible saison mixed with a even worse IPA... Glad I only took one bottle from my brothers fridge... He has not even tried it yet, I hope he likes it more then me. I hate giving bad ratings but sometimes you just gotta.

Pours a hazy golden, with a medium, creamy off-white head. Massive lacing that sticks to the glass like glue. The smell is of of fresh apricots, and a hint of vinegar. Taste begins with some apricot, followed by some sweet bread, then some honey, and an herbal, asprin-like bitter finish. Mouthfeel is good. Overall a good Belgian style IPA, though I would prefer a bit more hop bitterness and flavor for the style.

Reviewed from notes. Poured from 12 oz. bottle into a Russian River pint glass.

A: Pours a nice gold with just a slight haze. Forms a big fluffy white head atop medium visible carbonation.

S: Belgian fruity esters (grape, pear, banana) with light cracker malt, some funk, and only hints of grassy hops.

T: The Belgian characteristics dominate the palate. Light malts, sweet fruity yeast esters with some citrus hops near the end. Mild pine bitterness in the hang.

M: Light body, moderate alcohol presence, and a healthy dose of carbonation sensation.

O: I'm torn here. It seems to be a pretty decent Belgian pale ale, but doesn't follow through on the promise of the IPA character. Not bad though.
