I'm buzzed I liked it. Why do have to justify my answer? (56 characters)

12oz brown bottle with no freshness date.

Clear reddish amber, sufficient lacing on the glass. Malty, light caramel, toasted bread, grape skin, ripe plums and a hint of alcohol in the nose. Somewhat smooth, malty, biscuity, light caramel, apple skin, peppery hop bitterness, hint of alcohol, toasted grainy finish.

A fun quaff for the most part, was hoping for a bit more on the malty side or pushing the envelope in other ways. (431 characters)

ST: 12oz poured into a pint glass.

A: Clear amber, red with lots of carbonation.

S: Malty graininess, light caramel, toasty notes.

T: Smooth, malty, some caramel, cereal grain, graininess, green herbal edge, pepper, and hops.

M: Medium and dry.

O: A little more hoppy than other reds, but an enjoyable mix of flavors. Smooth and easy to drink, Lucky offers nice flavor without overkill. (393 characters)

12 oz bottle, poured into a pint glass

Appearance: Pours a pretty, cloudy, deep, dark reddish/mahogany color with 2 full fingers of white-colored head that dissolved into a lacing of foam that completely covered the top of the beer.

Aroma: Nice aromas of toast malt up front, imparting notes of biscuits, soda bread, and English muffins. I also get notes of black pepper, a touch of coriander, and some floral notes of hay and clover. Finally, I get some aromas of honey and caramel.

Taste: Nice flavors of toasted malt up front, immediately followed by some caramel and brown sugar-like sweetness. There’s a pleasant touch of floral/slightly bitter hops at the finish. Really good!

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied and very smooth, as there is practically no carbonation what-so-ever. With an ABV of 5.5%, there is no presence of alcohol on the palate.

Overall: This is a delicious Irish-style red ale! Great flavors of malt and sweetness, wrapped up in a creamy beer. I’m definitely getting a six pack of this every year! (1,036 characters)

On tap @ Kloby’s Smokehouse (Laurel, MD) on 3/17/12. Served in a pint glass.

Pours a clear copper, topped with a near finger of bright-white foamy head. This retains with a smooth creaminess that rings the sides of the glass with sticky lacing. The aroma smells fresh and leafy, with a good bit of buttered cracker pushing through, while sweeter toffee notes pull up the back.

The taste has a crisp green bite to it that is set against a smooth feeling malt backbone of caramel and buttered toast. This finishes with a light leafy bitterness that lingers some. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a softer feel up front that then firms up nicely on the tongue with a smooth crispness. This is easy drinking.

This wasn’t anything too earth shattering for an Irish Red Ale but it’s flavorful enough with a nice crisp bite to it that keeps this quenching on the palate. This was a good one to pair up with some barbecue here. (935 characters)

S: Very toasty malt, bread crust like. Hint of roast with soft floral notes.

L: Very burnt orange, bordering on red. Crystal clear, 1/16 inch creamy head with ok retention

T: Toasty malt with a prominent earthy hop flavor. Medium earthy bitterness with some grainy sweetness with additional prominent spicy hoppiness. Finishes semi-dry with graininess and a slight hop bite.

M: Medium bodied, medium carbonation.

Really solid example of the style, a little more hoppy than usual. Not sure what the 4 leaf clovers contributed besides being a marketing ploy. (560 characters)
