Poured from the bottle into a Dogfish Head Ale glass.
A real nice clear body, bronze orange and gleaming, with a small slow rising carbonation in the middle. Head billows up uniform and off white, thick with a big three and a half finger cap and settles to a big one finger large puck. Real impressive and solid looking IPA here.
The nose hop angle hits at mellow notes of fruit tropical orange and citrus. It's forward but not overkill, in fact there is not much of a sweet malt presence here either. Sometimes simplicity just works better. Very solid and controlled DIPA so far.
Palate hits with a nice mixing juicy quality. Pine bitterness in the mid palate then mixing in with a nice pineapple and tropical fruit juice quality while finish. Extremely long and lingering hop bittering finish with a measurable sweetness. Hints of controllable black pepper quick heat on the swallow, hinting at dank earth. Carbonation is fairly moderate but has plenty of density, almost getting thick but luckily not sugar sweet rushing.
Overall this is just one of those examples where simple just turns out real good for a single hop brew, and at ten percent abv this drinks real easy surprisingly without any boozy qualities, with the exception of some stomach warmth. This might be the best Flying Dog beer I think they have made to date (that I've had).

A- Light amber color with 1 finger, creamy head. Awesome lacing and trailing.
S - Grapefruit, grapefruit rind, pine, pepper, a little bit of caramel, and some booze.
T - Follows the smell. Bitter grapefruit, orange, a fair amount of pine, a little pepper, caramel, and booze. Grapefruit rind aftertaste. Pineapple becomes more noticeable as it warms.
M - On the lighter side of medium. Feels light on the tongue. Somewhat creamy, oily, and drying.
O - I enjoyed experiencing Citra on its own for the first time. I'm already having flashbacks of other beers where Citra had to have played a big role. This was a good beer, but I don't think I would drink it very often. It did its job of exposing me to the Citra hop as a stand-alone very well.

Poured on draft at U Pick 6 in Erie, PA. This was my first encounter with a single, citra hopped IPA. I loved the complex, fruity aroma and taste. The appearance was hazy copper with a nice head and lacing down to the bottom. I will definitely seek this one out again...or maybe brew a clone.
