Poured chilled in straight-edged ale glass @buzzlitebeer's barroom

A: very clear, copper; quite bubbly; fantastic lacing
S: hops, bubblegum
T: all hops -- fresh, vibrant, piney, and resiny; medium sweetness; very complex flavor profile

This is a very interesting change from the last one I had in this series, the El Dorado, which had very little finishing hops and was more meady and bitter

So I was trying this beer for th first time after a Flying Dog Brewery Tour. Nothing like straight from the Factory flavor. Our tour guide said this beer was brewed in the same fashion as the Raging Bitch, but only using one hop variety "Chinook" unlike Raging Bitch which uses three different varietals in the brewing process.

The beer pour golden and is translucent. Ice cold. Carbonation was moderate to heavy like most Flying Dog Beers. During their process they force carbonation adding a little extra zip.

As for the aroma this compared to the other Single Hop Imperial IPAs was the smoothest. I thought it was the most floral and least bitter between the two others I tried Centennial and Citra. The taste was light in respect to other breweries that focus on Ales and was very crisp. I ended up buying a growler of this Single Hop Imperial IPA as I thought it was the best of the three. By no means am I a hop head or IPA guy, I prefer Belgian strong ale and this seemed the most mild of the three in bitterness.

Served in an Olde Hickory shaped-glass.

A: Poured a solid gold color, fairly clear with ever the slightest chill haze, and about a 1/2 finger head that added a creamy element visually.

S: I got a mild, pleasant fruity aroma on this. That is unusual because usually with a brew this octane, I get a strong, uber-saturated sugary, bitter mass of liquid.

T: This is a really nice sipper. It sort of reminds me of a slightly less robust "Hopslam," but without the honey. After a few sips, the booze started to heat up, but it was of the candy-coated variety.

M: I thought with this being Chinook that this was going to be one bitter mama-jama, but this was surprisingly disciplined in its approach. Sure, it had some bitter elements, but I thought the fruit measured up to the hops quite nicely.

O: I've been impressed with some of Flying Dog's Imperial Series brews in the last year or so, and this is no exception!

12 oz bottle poured into a snifter

A- A clear orange/copper with a two finger white head.

S- Pineapple, some tropical fruits, citrus, some pine.

T- Not as fruity as the nose, more pine and resin, very bitter, citrus hops, a little bit of pineapple, some alcohol.

M- Smooth, crisp, medium body.

O- This is a solid IIPA and very easy to drink. Will pick up again and hopefully wi be able to try others in the series.

12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass

A: Clear orange. Thick, two-finger creamy head that hangs around. Kinda look like clouds sitting on top of the beer. Pretty neat. Laces beautifully.

S: Citrusy, piney, some pineapple

T: Citrus, fruity, piney, hoppy. All the good stuff.

M: Medium body, creamy, smooth. Well-balanced with the carbonation.

Overall: Excellent. I can taste some subtle uniqueness to this beer. A definite must-have for hopheads. Kicks butt at 10% too.

Poured into a tulip.

Gold with 2 fingers of head. Excellent clarity and low carbonation.

Pineapple juice, lemon juice, papaya, tangerine, caramel and sugar cookies.

Pineapple juice, tangerines and papaya. Hints of lemon zest, grapefruit zest and resinous pine needles. Caramel backbone with handfuls of crushed sugar cookies.

Medium-full bodied, oily and dry.

This beer is full of tropical fruits, most notably pineapple. Moderate bitterness is balanced by a sugary maltiness. 10% abv is well hidden for a smooth drinkability. This is a win for Flying Dog!

A: two finger head with some lacing and retention on a slightly hazy light amber and gold body.

S: as expected lots of grapefruit hops. honey, pineapple and green apple as well.

T: candy suagr, citrus but lots of resin, grass and pine bitterness, especially in the finish lingering deep into the aftertaste. decent degree of caramel malts.

M: medium body and moderate carbonation.

Overall: a little tough to drink at first. This one has a lot of flavor where as many single hopped chinock brews seem to smell better than they taste.
