A: This poured an opaque pitch black with thick dark tan head. Beautiful.
S: It smelled like bitter dark chocolate and roasted coffee, with some faint spices.
T: It tasted like rich dark chocolate and bitter roasted coffee, with some herbal tea and grassy hops. It had a clean bittersweet aftertaste.
M: It was somewhat thick with fine carbonation. Nice slick body.
D: This was an interesting stout. The idea of combining green tea into typical stout flavors isn't an obvious mix. It ended up about as good as I could imagine, but still not what I would consider delicious. The body was nice, and the finish was surprisingly smooth with well hidden alcohol. So it was easy to drink. No reason to cellar that I can think of. Nice to try once, but nothing more than a fleeting novelty.

Flying Dog : Green Tea Imperial Stout

Pours a dark brown, bordering on black . Off white head forms and leaves good lace. Aroma of leafy tea and roasted malts. In the flavor, green tea and smokey malt flavor. Chocolate and tea flavor work well together. Fruity booze note and rounds out the flavor with some smooth alcohol. Soft feel and drinks smoothly and quite easily. Overall, this is a good beer, the green tea supersedes the hops and adds a leafy, herbal flavor to a big time stout.

Glugs into the snifter super-dark. Looks black with a dark mocha-colored head. Sits at a half-inch. Falls to a ring with some haste.

Roasty aromas of mild chocolate and kilned grain blends with an herbal and distict smell of whole leaf green tea. Lighter still is a whiff of espresso. Earthy and very light notes of berry.

Dry, earthy green tea flavors correspond with usual stout maltiness. Green tea leaves, heavy roast, herbal bitterness, tart berry, dark cocoa, espresso, spearmint, and earthy hops. Really impressed at how these flavors marry. Very earthy tea finish with a quiet booze warmth.

An inflated body with lots of chew, supported by a languid and chunky carbonation. 10% is hard to believe.

So enjoyable. Such a unique drinking experiencw. Worth the buy. I would love to get more.

Traded with DJ's BrewTube for this one! Thanks man!

Pours out completely pitch black with a deep khaki tan head.

The aroma packs some very herbal and earthy green tea smells along with some roast, a hint of chocolate and a bit of caramel sweetness.

Tons of the herbal and earthy green tea type of taste to start off and then that fades into some huge roasty malt notes. There is some bittersweet chocolate and some coffee in there too. A tiny hint of vanilla near the end.

The body is medium and the mouthfeel is creamy. There is a decent dryness in the finish and the alcohol is very well masked.

Very unique and a different take on an Imperial Stout. The green tea is kind of disjointed against the traditional Imperial Stout notes, but it's a fun beer to try. Not the best or the worst I have ever had.
