A - Ordered this "wit" looking for something refreshing on a warmer August night. Knowing nothing of the beer itself, I was surprised to find it black as a Guiness, with a thin head. It started the expectation of the beer to be malty right off the bat.
S - Citrusy, inviting, and light smell. Nothing strong, but indeed a strong contradiction from the expectation given off by the color.
T - Average quality of taste to witbeers, fairly mild citrus with higher than expected hoppiness.
M - Fairly thin, but enough hops and citrus to keep it enjoyable til the end.
Overall - A solid, but not outstanding flavor, however the experience of the black color with the light citrusy taste make it a memorable drinking experience. Well done to Flying Dog to deliver something new and inventive.

A-black with a very thick tan head. Pours with a lot of action. Looks like a stout!
S-smells like a very spicy and hoppy Belgian white! It's a strong and awesome scent
T-comes in with a much more mild but crisp flavor of spice, grains, with just a hint of cocoa. It's quite mild, almost watery. The after-taste is mostly of cocoa with a hint of smoke.
M-quite watery. Very low carbonation.
O-looks and smells awesome. Tastes okay. Feels just off though. Definitely tastes like an experiment more than something they should release in bottles. I expected more flavor for the abv. It's not a terrible drinker though.

Filled my growler up with this earlier today.
Appearance - Just as the name implies, big & black. Not as dark as a stout, but darker than most porters. Quite foamy. Had about a two finger head after being poured into a pint glass.
Smell - Floral and somewhat nutty. Not this beer's strongpoint. It's biggest strongpoint is it's...
Taste - A fantastic amalgamation of wheat, caramel, coffee, and hops. Much hoppier than I expected. All of these characteristics are nearly undetectable in the smell, but undeniable in taste.
Mouthfeel - Very smooth and drinkable. 7% APV isn't particularly high for a craft beer, but it isn't low either. I knocked back two pints in about 30 mins with ease.
Overall - A fine brew. And a great one to toast off to my recently fallen idol...James Gandolfini.
