Looked like dark apple cider when I poured it, fruit yeast aroma, sediment clearly visible, thick carmel malt first taste, second taste became more fruity and spicey, thick and sweet right to the end. A little to sweet fruity for my tastes. Was bought in Poland by a friend of mine.

Not your usual wheat beer, very unique. Made from malted barley, malted wheat, and home-malted oats. Would love to try the unfiltered keg version. Looks great in a clean pilsner glass, with good a good, white, thick, head on it. Overall good Witbier, with a great lasting taste. Cheers!

Best before end of 2012 oh well, been int he cellar a bit too long.

Hazy slight sediment slight tan wheat colored but clear, very little head.

Nose sweet apple cider, candy like, wheat, little creamy wheat, little caramel and candi sugar.

Taste sweet candy, apple cider but much less than the nose, lots of caramel, little butterscotch, nice candy apple. Mild candy wheat, creamy wheat, and candi sugar, caramelized sugar. Finish is dry but light feeling, little creamy wheat, more caramelized candi sugar.

Mouth is med to lighter bod, decent but lighter carb, little sticky.

Overall interesting, nothing too special, held up surprisingly well for the age. Nice apple notes mixed with some wheat and lots of candy flavors, a nice combination that I bet is better fresh but maybe not.

Golden color with a thick two finger head with good retention. Got hazy murky brown after the last pour.
Aroma of oranges, coriander, spearmints, bread and spices.
Flavor is similar to nose, notes of spearmints, mandarins, coriander and cloves, wheat, honey and pepper. Hints of banana, though oranges and mandarins are quite predominant. Dry and mild bitter aftertaste.
Medium body with good carbonation. Creamy sensation.
Very yeasty with oxidized citrus notes. I prefer other types of Witbier, but still an interesting combination with its own character. It is kind of a Witbier mutating to a Tripel.

330 mL bottle from the LCBO; best before Feb 21 2015. One of several Belgian abbey-style beers I picked up during my last trek to London. Served slightly chilled, and poured into a conic pint.

Pours a golden-peach colour, cloudy with sediment, and topped with about one finger of smooth, creamy, dense white head. It has an exceedingly long retention time, with a thin cap remaining at the surface through much of the drink. The aroma is typical of the style - lots of orange citrus, as well as some coriander, yeast, and grainy pale malts. Banana is a minor note at first, but becomes more noticeable as it warms.

Pretty tasty, reminding me of a witbier crossed with a hefeweizen. Citrusy orange and lemon are quite prominent at first, along with lots of ripe banana and sweet, bready wheat malts. The spice comes forward in the finish; a pleasantly subtle mixture of coriander, ginger and pepper. The aftertaste is mostly citrus and banana, with a slight twinge of spice that dries the palate out nicely. Medium-bodied, with firm carbonation that weakens slowly - the mouthfeel starts off crisp, then becomes a lot smoother and creamier. For this reason (along with the higher abv), this is not the most drinkable or refreshing wit I've ever tried.

Final Grade: 3.76, just barely eking out a B+. Abbaye des Rocs' Blanche des Honnelles is a nicely balanced witbier with a mix of fresh, clean fruity flavours and yeasty, spicy notes, although I'm not sure I'd want to have more than two bottles of this at a time. The last time I bought a witbier was almost exactly a year ago, so this isn't one of my more sought-after styles, but this is a solid wit I could see myself picking up again next summer when the itch hits. If you're looking for a wit to consume in session-worthy quantities, though, there are a few locally-made examples I'd suggest before this one - not to mention Hoegaarden, the old standby.
