Pours to a golden-tinted copper with a skimming of off-white suds.
It noses of doughy breads, graduating toastier over times, with a floral, piney, and lightly citric hop backing.
Doughy up front in the mouth, toastiness grows and grows from underneath until it becomes the feature. Hops bring lime juice, floral, and a dab of pine, but seem overmatched, as more bitterness could be used to override the lingering sweet-toasty flavors.
Medium bodied, with little carbonation.
It's not entirely bad, but lacks the balance- and thus the sessionability- that I look for in a Pale Ale.

12oz single, Riley's

never heard of this brewery, so glad riley's had single of their main brands

appearance: poured into a standard pint glass, clear copper-amber body with a light beige froth and light lacing

smell: toasted grain, toasted malt, crisp hops

taste: a well done pale - not a hopbomb by any stretch but a nice balance of grassy herbal hops and toasted grain and malt. i had 2 of these and could see drinking this again over the summer

mouthfeel: light and crisp

drinkability: great

Poured a slightly hazed copper with a thin soap ring head, no lacing or retention.

The nose is very faint with a light off bit of hops, almost euro lager like.

Wow the flavor is just bad, very metallic and full of diacytle oilyness. Very bad, I hope this just an off batch.

The mouthfeel is thin and watery.

This is bad, Not sure if I'm going to even be able to finish it, its like a really old oxidized green bottle eurolager.

Pours a hazy amber color with a large head that has excellant retention. Heavy lacing is left on the glass. Has a citrus aroma, mostly orange. A little mustiness from the malt is also noted. The flavor is a bit odd. Mostly citrus, like Sunny-D or some other orange flavored drink. I cannot detect any flavor from the malt. The body is on the thin side but the carbonation is at a decent level. The flavor did not really appeal to me but others may like it more. Could of used a different malt bill to compliment the citrus flavors. I will likely pass on this in the future.

A: The beer pours a large, almost overflowing white head, about four inches tall. The beer is an amber golden with fairly good active carbonation. The head, as it settles, makes a nice mousse on top. It's very, but not perfectly, clear. 4.5

S: Hoppy, but not extremely so. It's strongly American hops, piney and citrusy, but there is a slightly spicy note in there as well. I'm impressed with the balance and restraint. 4.0

T: The flavor, like the aroma, is restrained, perhaps more so. There are the same mild pine and citrus notes, but a slight astringency in the finish. The whole finish sort of falls apart. It's nice up front, but leaves nothing to long to return. As I drink more I find less and less to like. 3.5

M: Creamy smooth, which very nice, but the hops don't add too much sharpness, nor does the carbonation, which is a problem. 3.5

D: It's drinkable, better than average either, but this is not something I'll be seeking too much of again. 3.5

Poured on tap into a pint glass. Pours straw with a tad of red with a small white head. Smells of piney hops with a touch of citrus. Tastes of some malt with sharp piney hops. Beer is light bodied with good carbonation, finishes real nice. Overall a very good beer.

this beer has a strong aroma of cascade when you open it up. the head retention is long and has a big bubbles which make great retention. the pale has a nice clean and clear appearence very nice showing well done on filtration. the taste is exactly what i would expect in an american pale, great taste to bitterness ratio once you have one sip the hop hits you then after that it smoothes out very nicely whitch makes it very drinkable and a strong mouthfeel. i request this beer all the time in lacrosse.
