Body is a crystal clear yellow, a shade or two darker than a typical macro. Head is thich, a good two fingers that hangs around and leaves decent lacing.

The nose brings honey, malt sweetness and a touch of floral hops.

Hops come through a lot more in the flavor with citrus notes dominant. the sweet maltiness is there as well.

Really smooth and delectable, a pleasant surprise for sure. I look forward to trying some other Pearl Street offerings.

A: Nearly transparent, straw-colored body. But for the soft, fluffy white head, it could be any other macrobrew.

S: Sweet, mildly acidic. Not much on the nose.

T: Grassy and sour. Reminds me of lemon disinfectant (in a good way). Hops subtle but noticeable under the pilsener sweetness.

M: Crisp and light at the beginning, with just a bit of tacky/resiny lingering on the back end.

O: A complex and interesting pilsner, one I'd definitely like to try again.

Try it again? 4 - Probably.

Pours a frothy, soft, white head that has commendable persistence and laces the glass nicely. Surprisingly robust hop aroma of grains. Faint gold, almost clear color seems strange considering the aroma. Whoa! Don't let the color fool you! This is bright and very assertively hopped. Hoppy, bitter notes of grassy grains and a touch of spiciness and citrus (almost a little pine, too). The finish is nice as the bitterness lingers across a solid malt back.

This is a real surprising Pilsner. It smelled good, looked weak, and tastes very good. It is definitely hopped more than the style typically is, but it's still balanced enough to be pleasant and it still allows the malt to show through.
I really, really like this one. It's very solid and would make a PERFECT session lager!
I need to get another chance to head up to beautiful LaCrosse and get this on tap!

Honestly I was pretty surprised to see a good representation of a German Pilsner from PSB. In my experience, their beers haven't exactly been spectacular. This beer pours a clear golden color with a bubbly 1 inch cap. The aroma has a distinct noble hop spiciness backed up by some lightly toasted bread/saltine cracker aromas. The flavor has a very nice and clean hop bite, showcasing some tasty hop flavors and a fairly clean finish, that just about outshines the malt character, though the pilsner malt does make a nice appearance bringing a fresh graininess to the show. There is also a mild, yeast-driven sulfur note that compliments the other flavors admirably. This beer is very drinkable, leaving a soft flavor on the tongue, and I could very easily drink several pints in a sitting. If you've ever wanted to know what noble hops taste like, this beer is one to check out, as it showcases the hops very well, with distinct flavors.

Pearl Street Brewery is not a Wisconsin brewery I know all that much about. Based in Lacrosse, they must do pretty good to make it all the way down to the bottom of the state by me. I’m always excited to try my first beer from a brewery I have never tried before and it’s always good to start with one of their lightest beers.

It pours a pale yellow color with an average white head. There is that traditional pilsner scent with a well blended concoction of wheat and hops. It’s very inviting and pretty much how you would expect a pilsner to smell.

The taste is everything you expect with a sweet grainy taste that is smooth and refreshing. But then the after taste kicks in with a dry, chalky, bitterness that moves across your taste buds. The best way to avoid that nasty metallic finish is to keep drinking. Rather disappointing coming from a beer that started out so well. Taking into the whole taste, this is an average pilsner.

A new beer from a new brewery for my own personal statistics is always awesome, but this beer is less than awesome. The after taste really needs so work in my opinion. I know the bottle reads “Heartily Hopped Pilsner Lager” but hops aren’t supposed to taste like that. Pearl Street would be wise to head back to the drawing board with this brew, if they want to have a competitive pilsner that rivals that of other Wisconsin brewers.
