Notes/Commercial Description:
Released in celebration of autumn’s arrival, Oktoberfest is a medium-bodied bier crafted in the Leavenworth tradition. This richly amber seasonal owes its smooth, malty flavor to a large percentage of Munich malt. In the classic German tradition, we add both noble Tettnanger and imported Tradition hops for an authentic Oktoberfest hop aroma.

22 oz bottle served in a Belgian snifter. Poured lightly hazy, brown-amber in color, with a small, off-white head that had OK retention and left just a spotty lacing.

A sweet malty aroma with a nice breadiness and some spicy hops.

Flavor: sweet malts in generous portions mix with balancing noble hops that add only a slight bit of spicy hop character, but adequately counter the malts' sweetness. Simple and mild but pleasant and refreshing.

Feel: Medium body and lively, near medium carbonation.

O: Worth trying.

Quite drinkable malty beer of no particular distinction. Starts with some attractive foam but less retention than average. The coppery amber color is quite lovely. Not that much carbonation on the tongue especially considering how well the Germans engineer the mouthfeel.

First sip is the appealing warm, malty taste with a zing of hops. Caramel with a slight biter edge. A hint of fruit. After some sipping this seems a little grainy and murky, though it's been a few months since Oktober so maybe freshness is paramount here.

Some pleasant malt flavors but on the watery side. Worth a try next fall on tap but I would skip the bottle. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at the Fish Tale brewpub in Everett.

22oz bottle into a weizen glass. Pours a deep ruby amber w/ a big fluffy beige head, good sticky lacing. Nice caramel color, a little dark for an Oktoberfest.

Aroma is bready caramel malt and a hint of spice.

Taste follows nose. Heavy caramel malt with just a touch of cinnamon/nutmeg. Floral Old World hops give it a good decisive bitterness.

Mouthfeel is medium-bodied, drinkable, refreshing.

Overall this is a rich, flavorful, well-crafted Oktoberfest bier.

A: Dark ice tea coloring the head is frothy, slight with a light tan shade and a moderate stay of execution. Visible carbonation is faint and very spacious. Lacing is light.

S: Nose is light and indistinguishable for the most part. I did manage to pull out subtle nuances of dry grains and some herbal hops upon warming but the munich toastedness that they claim dominates this beer is kept in check.

T: The flavor came off a bit washy to me at first, a bit metallic but only slight with dry grains. Some toasted nature creeps in but not really dominating, faily restrained. Some soft herbal hops do come to light but are much more pronoucned after the swallow saving this from a below average score. A bit of off flavor of tea tannins rears its ugle head suggesting this isnt as cleanly brewed as finer german counterparts in terms of malt bills.

M: Some toasted slickness, medium body, quiet carbonation.

O: Overall it takes a few sips to warm up to this, it does improve slightly but pales when compared to finer examples. This really isnt gonna put the germans out of business in terms of cleanly brewed malt forward octoberfest and the noble hops really dont shine through and seem kinda faint and old. A bomber quickly becomes tiring about midway through.

Poured into a becker a clear rich bronze color with a half finger white head that lingered for a bit.Fruity esters and caramel malts dominated the nose, pretty aleish in the nose.Lightly toasted with caramel not being to overbearing on the palate, fruity with a light hop presence. Not a bad little seasonal ale, could drink a fair amount of this.

Appearance: pours a hazy reddish amber color with a 1" head that lasts a long time. Thick lace develops.

Smell: caramel and some earthy tones are easy to detect.

Taste: caramel, apples, a moderate earthiness, and a decent bitterness creates a simple but tasty oktoberfest.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied. Light crispness at the start, smoother and a bit dry at the finish. Short lived aftertaste.

Overall: this beer is very easy to drink and on a nice fall day could be consumed all day long. Nice flavors and very satisfying.

Malty aroma has an undertone of spiced apple and just a hint of caramel. Pours a clear, dark mahogany with a decent light tan head. Flavor is mainly malty with caramel and fruity hints, a bitter undertone and a touch of woody hops. Texture has about average body, not much fizz. Overall, fair to middlin’ and good for a party.

Poured into 10oz glass. Poured a medium golden amber with just less than an inch of slightly off-white head that had good retention and just a little lacing.

A fairly neutral, balanced aroma greets the nose, a mild grainyness the outstanding feature. The flavors are very similar, just fuller and more present.

The body is on the lighter side, but still full and pleasant. Drinkability is very good, having a session with these while enjoying the waning days of summer would be a pleasure. Worth trying, and maybe a little effort to find.
