This is a really great take on the winter seasonal!

Instead of a heavier, spiced winter warmer, this is a very fruity, medium bodied ale with tons of floral character that remind me of a fruitcake, without the glazed fruits.

This is classified here as an IPA, but it's on the fringe end. Kind of like Steelhead's Peregrin Took IPA, not like SN Celebration. The hops are mostly in the aftertaste, though melded really well with the sweetness of the malt. Robust rather than dry.

After trying the Leviathan BW and this, I'm gonna have to give Fish another spin or two when I hit the store again!

This beer pours a slightly hazy amber color with a white head. It smells hoppy and piney. This beer tastes hoppy with residual flavors of malt, pine and fruit. A very complex flavor. Apparantly this beer has some spruce and juniper in it but not so much that I could notice without coaching. I've drank quite a few of these in a row with no ill effects, some other juniper berried beer is tough on my body. This beer is a cross between an IPA and a winter warmer.

Growler into glass

A- Golden translucent light copper with an off-white head and decent lacing as we worked our way down the glasses.

S- Some fruity esters and sprucey hops. Tropical and fruity sweet scents remind me more of a pale ale than a winter warmer, but it smells great.

T- Tastes like a bigger Belgian dubbel. Some saison funk or perhaps another flavorful yeast compliments banana and hoppiness with just a smattering of caramel malt. Super tasty but like the aroma, it's a bit off style.

M- Plenty of body but not thick-feeling or syrupy. Good after-feel.

O- This is a great winter beer for those who like hoppy beers and Belgian-style beer. IPA meets trappist dubbel meets winter ale!

Healthy head on a hazy, opaque bright orange. Nice sticky lacing.

Hop-dominant and flowery, with some maltiness in the background.

Sweet, rich and malty with plenty of juicy hops. Very fruity...grapefruit and berries on toast, with a slightly spicy finish. Lots of honey notes and more hops throughout.

Full bodied, creamy and sticky with low carbonation.

Quite tasty...I like it. A downtempo version of Fish Tale's anniversary ale, and quite tasty. Fairly cloying, but that's alright. Very tasty.

Golden straw in color (hazy) with a white head that dissipated fairly quickly. Aroma of mainly citrus and pineapple. Grapefruit hops dominate the flavor, but there's bready malt backbone to it. Medium bodied with an effervescent mouth feel. The finish is very dry and grapefruit hops linger along with a touch of alcohol. I was surprised to see that this is 7.5% ABV. Very drinkable—if you can deal with a high dosage of hops.

Very orangey-red tones of early sunset...a thick look, as it didn't allow much light to pass through. Driving sheets of lace down the glass, underneath a foamy, chewy white head.

Citrusy and spicy in the nose. Very distinct smell inside - maybe an oak aging or perhaps a distinct yeast? Bartender was nice but had no clue as to the ingredients, so no help there - have to rely on instinct and instinct says an offbeat yeast, or perhaps oak aging.

Strong hops flavor overrides almost all else to start the sip, and then chews on the tongue a little longer. My, I like this. Just enough malt to not make you wince from the hops - in fact, enough to make you taste sweetness on the final part of the sip. This is about ideal for my palate. Somewhere in the mix is an oak or peat taste...sort of like a sherry or whiskey flavor buried deep inside the profile.

Mouthfeel is solid, and gives a nice finish on each sip. Somewhere along the first pint, I fell in love with this brew and had another before we headed down the road. The second was in many ways much better than the first. A truly unique and satisfying brew. I enjoyed it along with my remaining seafood chowder.

Orange in color with a thin head. Citrusy aroma, smell warns of the hops to come. This IPA is dominated by hops and the citrus-like taste comes on strong here. There is a hint of maltyness, but not enough to the balance that I would prefer . A well crafted and beer, but not totally unique. If you lean toward a hop dominated beer this might be up your alley.

Pour: Sunset cloudy orange, produces a thick finger of off-white, determined head, that settles slowly into patches and leaves 360 degree lace.

Nose: Sour lemon, fresh citrus, grapefruit, honey, fresh cut grass, toasted white bread. Hint of fish?

Taste: Starts hoppy. Citrusy, crisp and grassy. Then a millisecond of sweet honey malt, then a big bitter finish. The end of this beer overwhelms everything else. Quite hoppy, to the point of being a bit unpleasant and vegetably .

Mouth: Medium body, with a spritzy carbonation that comes on in the finish.

Overall: Not incredibly interesting. Not sure why this is being called a winter beer. Somewhere between a light IPA and a dry hopped pale ale.

The website says the grain bill is all Pale and Honey Malt. Hops are Chinook throughout the boil, and Chinook to dry hop. This is a dry hopped pale ale, through and through.
