i love this beer. smooth, soft, light and buttery. goes down so quick and easy. maybe too easy, though it's low abv, so a good session drink. ive never been much of a alaskan amber fan, but i feel this is what they were trying to make their beer taste like. goodgood good. !

This is a solid, extremely enjoyable alt.
Brownish amber, it has a thin off-white head dissipating immediately to a thin ring and leaving no lace.
Aroma is caramelised toasty barley, hints of bread and whole wheat, light earthy leafiness. It's very good, but a bit simple.
Taste is better, nice toasty grain, barley, some bread crust and mineral hint with light zesty-peppery-earthy leafiness, and light bitterness to balance sweetness. It has a lively finish, nice firm aftertaste. It's flavourful with light complexity and good balance, holds up well, stays interesting yet is highly drinkable. It has a good, firm, lively feel. Drinkability is exceedingly high.

12 oz. bottle,
A: Pours a hazy amber with a moderate clingy white head, leaves spots of lace.
S: Toasty biscuity malt, light caramel, noble hops, definite minerality, classic Alt nose. Hint of orange essence.
T: Sweet bready, cakey, brown sugar malt flavour with minerality. Light grassy hop flavour brings a good counterbalance. Very good flavour overall.
M: Light-bodied. creamy, very smooth, very soft carbonation.
D: This is going down really fast and is a delight. Saw a new beer at Hi-Times, thought I'd pick it up, Altbier's a relatively rare style any way. Sub 5%, great flavour, easy drinking, what's not to love.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a Sam Adams perfect pint.
Altbiers are depressingly scarce in Florida, I saw this bottle hanging out with the tell-tale "ALT" in front at Total Wine and snapped it up. The beer pours a medium-clarity orange-amber color with a finger of persistent head. The aroma is nice, it's got a touch of leafy hops paired with some caramel and nutty malts. The taste is very smooth, with the caramel malt and the slightest hint of leafy hops leading the way. The nuttiness comes in to dominate the finish, leaving a rather nice, soft aftertaste to linger. The mouthfeel is just about right, it goes down very easily. The drinkability is scary good. It's an excellent, highly drinkable beer while still providing what the big guys miss - flavor. I can't say I've had any other Altbiers before this, so I can't say if it hit the style marks or not, but it hit the taste marks just fine.

355ml bottle. One of only a handful of altbiers available in Alberta - hey, we've got a ton of German heritage here too!
This beer pours a somewhat hazy, medium burnished golden amber hue, with one finger of foamy, frothy beige head, which leaves some nice tree moss lace around the glass as it evenly bleeds away.
It smells of subtly grainy barley malt, mild green apple mush, a hint of dry nuttiness, and a watery metallic character. The taste is bready caramel malt, some lesser wheaty notes, muddled orchard fruit, that sleek metallic undertone, and floral, leafy hops.
The carbonation is quite sedate, but still goes by its job honestly, the body a decent medium weight, and fairly smooth as well. It finishes still solid on the gently toasted caramel malt front, the moderated sweetness abetted by the lingering fruit and understated floral hops.
A nice, generally full-flavoured instance of the style. It would seem to work on a summer patio (current situation), or equally well as an apres-ski, or any other fresh air mountain pursuit. Take that, Coors Light!

A - Half a finger of white foam quickly disappates and leaves good lace. The body is a hazy reddish brown color.
S - Toasted malt, caramel, and toffee with some light german hop notes.
T - Toasted malt and toffee with smooth caramel. The toast lasts through the finish, while the other malt flavors fade. A slightly earthy hop flavor shows up in the finish with moderate bitterness and some biscuit malt flavor.
M - Medium body, moderate carbonation, and a dry finish.
D - This is a nice, drinkable interpritation of an all to unusual style. It could stand a bit more hop character, but the dry finish makes up for this shortcoming and ensures balance and drinkability.

12oz from Brewforia... Paid about $2... Pours with a short lived off white head... great sheets of lacing though.. the brew is lite amber.
Nose is pretty clean maltiness.. though the malts seem a bit restrained.. very light noble hops in the background.. pretty good I guess.
Flavor begins with a descent bitterness and moves quickly into a good malt profile highlited by some toasty elements... bready .. a little metallic.. coppery... I know that "minerally" is okay with an Altbier, but this seems a tad high.. Body and carbonation are about medium.
Meh.... Good I guess... I'm having a hard time with it because of the metallic notes on the finish.. but maybe they are supposed to be there... I don't know. I probably won't buy this again unless I am in a store that can guarantee freshness.

A: Nice caramel color. Nicely carbed with a 1 finger white head. Cleared quick but still looked good.
S: Caramel sweet malt. Not really many noble hops came forward in aroma. Marzeny goodness.
T: Super light. Super easy drinker. Not a lot of complexity but a real thirst quencher. A little too much like water in terms of malty background. Good but so easy to forget. Nice subtle sweetness.
M: Thin like water.
O: Easy drinker but really not complex at all. Super easy drinker like water.

Poured into a becker a clear light to medium copper color with a nicely defined white one finger head atop that lasted nicely.Caramel and nutty malt mixed with a tinge of iron in the nose,a passing whiff of leafy hops come into play as well, well rounded.A little light in the feel wich takes away from the flavors, dryer nutty malt with mild fruitiness and leafy hops in the finish, well rounded but a little light in the flavor department. Not a bad alt beer it's something you could drink alot of but might become bored with after a few.

Pours clear medium brown with one finger of off white head. Head recedes to a ring of foam rather soon. Very minor lacing. Aroma is malty with a hint of hops. Taste is roasted malts with a kiss of bitter hops. A bit of leather on the back of the tongue gives it a dry moderately bitter finish. A nice session beer due to the 4.6% abv. Nice Alt bier. My sample was very fresh and this may be a summer seasonal I'm not certain. New find at the beer store.

Dark amber coloured beer, with a very nice thick, creamy off white head. Nice aromas of corn/oat/cereal a wee bit of toast. Semis sweet creamy malty taste, at first then dissapates and becomes a tad more bitter,nutty..hazel nuts. Realativly thin mouthfeel about it, but does have its moments. A nice simple beer, OK.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours moderately cloudy orange amber color with a small dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of caramel, honey, grape, pear, apple, toast, pepper, floral, grass, bread, and yeast earthiness. Ok aromas with decent balance of malt, yeast, and hop notes; with decent strength. Smells aged/slightly stale. Taste of caramel, honey, bread, toast, cracker, floral, pear, apple, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. No bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, honey, toast, bread, cracker, floral, pear, apple, grass, and earthiness on the finish for a bit. Nice balance of malt, hop, and fruity ester notes; with good flavor robustness and no cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied; with a fairly creamy and smooth mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming noticed after the finish; as expected of 4.6%. Overall this is a very solid altbier. No idea on age, but it still had some good balance and flavor robustness; and was very easy to drink. An enjoyable offering.

The Fishbowl serves this ale in tall, slender pilsner glasses that accentuate its spry carbonation and the clarity of its copper body. Eightmile's aroma consists of tangy, doughy yeast elements. The taste is not as nutty or as thoroughly bittered as some alts, though a bit of warming coaxes greater alt character. The taste is otherwise tangy with a finish that appears, vanishes, and returns.
A physically pretty beer. Refreshing and casual.

Pours orangish copper - towards light brown with a small swirling patch rather than a head. No real lacing, other than one thin ring, to speak of.
The smell is of caramelish and grainy sweetness with a touch of noble-type, slightly floral, hop spicing.
The taste is grainy/caramelish - has a sweet touch, but balanced in the finish with a floral/earthy note. Rather on the thin side, though well-balanced, with just enough lingering taste.
It is light-bodied, towards fizzy, though it does hold up well-enough to just make it past watery.
A decent attempt at the style. It's light and easy enough to drink.

Poured only a 1/4" white head which quickly dissipated. Color is a hazy raw sienna yellow, not particularly attractive. Smells mildly of hops but not much else. Taste reminds me of Octoberfest, it's got that slight cocoa butter aspect from the yeast used and a smoother mouthfeel than BMCs, but otherwise doesn't stand out.

12oz bottle which, according to the label, was bottled in September.
Poured a dark mahogany color that takes on a more orangey amber color when held up to light. Modest off-white head that dropped fairly quickly. Spotty lace.
Bready malts and soft, floral hops comprise the nose. Blandly pleasant would be a good way to describe it.
Taste is pretty similar to the smell, with it being fairly well-balanced between unassertive hops and biscuity malts, but there's some odd mineralish notes at the finish that mar things a bit.
Medium bodied, with a slightly coating mouthfeel.
Drinkable in that it's rather undemanding, but it's also uninteresting. I've had much better Alts, and don't feel a need to return to this one.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.
Look – creamy-looking dark brown, with about half a finger’s worth of cream-colored foam that dissipates quickly.
Smell – slightly malty smell, with a hint of a creaminess to it.
Taste – instantly a dry taste, especially felt on the sides of the palate. Musky in the middle, and slightly sweet on the finish. Also a bit of a bite in the aftertaste. Interesting taste.
Mouthfeel – dry and a tinsy bit on the creamy side.
Overall – interesting brew. Not my favorite in terms of taste, but still interesting enough.
