Fish Tale Organic India Pale Ale is a medium-bodied beer with a rich golden color. The organic pale and crystal malts lay down a firm malt body. This provides the backbone for an assertive hop profile featuring organic Pacific Gem. The moment the Mighty Fish Brewers sampled this pungent and resinous New Zealand hop, they knew it would be perfect for their Organic I.P.A. The result: A Cascadian treasure.

Very weak for the style. Super clean, no punch.

Clear, bright amber appearance with a small, off white head and good lacing. Subdued citrus aroma with a little resin in the background. Balanced flavors, from the fairly sweet malt backbone to a more aggressively hopped mid range. Aftertaste had a bit more bite. Pleasant, medium bodied, decently carbonated mouthfeel leading to a lingering finish.

12 oz. can:

Pours slightly hazed yellow amber with a foamy white head. Trailing spotted lace.

The smell is of mild grapefruit and oranges/tangerine with herbal spicing (dab of black pepper?).

The taste is of floral/herbal light spicing with some grapefruit. A touch of caramel gives a sweet balance to a mildly bitter, lightly toasted and spicy finish.

It is somewhat watery thin, but enough flavor lingers and it is smooth.

A decent, basic, Pacific Northwest IPA.

A: slight haze; bronze in color; 1 finger off white head that receded to a wispy cap; nice lacing;

s: vegetal; quite sre this isn't what the brewer intended;

T: follows the noce from start to finish; mild to moderate bitterness at the end;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;

O: there's a stamp on the bottom of the can, but it desn't correspond with dated; might be old - I don't know and the brewery clearly doesn't want me to know either - hence the review; if I knew it was old, I wouldn't review it;

From notes taken 07/22/17:

Finely hazed pinkish shade of orange amber, semi-opaque. Bright cream colored head of fine, milky, filmy foam with moderate retention and wet and fast-sinking legs. Aromas of pine, resin, wood, leather, orange, lemon, strongest between first part of pour and initial head dissipation before pouring the rest, then far more subtle and melded. Honestly, too much going on and then not enough. Palate favors the leather and resin suggestions as showcased in nose, nearing pine, spice, and even soap or perfume by the finish, but there is a fun citric tartness behind it that, alongside a grain bill suggestive of caramel, balances out any bitterness the average craft drinker might find off-putting or pushing the boundaries of drinkability. Medium-bodied, half watery, half creamy feel. Soft and smooth at first but activating quickly to prickly carbonation before fizzing out for the most part to yield smooth velvet.

A thanks to the commander of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a dark orange color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of caramel malts, light citrus. Taste is malts, herbal, light resin notes, mild bitterness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a mediocre beer.
