Stopped in here on my way home from work on 04/15/2010. Very clean place, and if your looking for quality wine, or a good selection of spirits, then this is a gem for the area. The staff does know their wine, as well as what is, and is not, in their store.

However, I was looking for beer, and the selection did not impress. There was nothing there that I could not otherwise find at Bevmo, not to mention, out of 10 fridges, only two had craft beer. There were, however, some exceptions. I was able to pick up a Vertical Epic 07 & 08 for retail price, which was a nice find as as the years pass those are much rarer to just come upon on the shelf.

If your willing to drive just a few more blocks, Liquid wine & spirits over on Topanga Canyon has a much better selection of beer, and wine.

This was once (and may still be somewhat) a premium and quality wine store with a great reputation and a very knowledgable and friendly owner.

HOWEVER, this place has not been reviewed here for four (4) years. I drive by it whenever I visit my dad who lives right down the street. I finally stopped in this month, May of 2009.

Suffice it to say the place was depressing and with, literally, nothing worthy of really looking at, nonetheless purchasing.

Place is clean and neat but the lights are kept off or very dim. It's one thing to conserve engergy; it's another thing to completely put off and depress your customers!

Very friendly staff and they wanted to be helpful. But they couldn't sell me beer that they didn't have. A low, unimpressive selection in the extreme. In fact, the selection was almost non-existent.

Summary and conclusion: You might find a nice bottle of wine here. THIS IS NOT A BEER STORE..PERIOD.

Another place I hit on my North Los Angeles Raid.

Medium hard place to find. It is behind the Carl's Junior at the corner of Roscoe and De Soto.

From the outside the place looks like a dump with all the super strong bars on the windows of a LA Combat zone.

Then I went inside.

Super Freaking Clean Store!

Maybe it is a bit to clean? No hand baskets or empty wine boxes to put your beers in.

Still nice people and beers no other store has.

Very hard to find a parking space.

Canoga Park has lots of good spots all real close.

Recommended if you are in the area.

One of the old reliables of the Woodland Hills, Canoga Park area. The Duke of Bourbon has been operating for quite a while with a habit of supporting smaller wineries and breweries consistently.

Located in a little strip mall (what in LA isn't?) the Duke is a small shop with a very well thought out set of supplied items for purchase. The beer selection is small, but choice. Sometimes hidden gems can be found here, like an older Stone special release sitting in the fridge for a period of time.

Service here is great, particularly in comparison to the BevMo that opened a mile away. Here the staff actually know what they're talking about.

I'll do the honors of being the first reviewer for this beer/wine/spirits store. I hesitate to call it a liquor store in the common definition of the word as they don't sell any tobacco products. Just the good stuff.

The beer selection is very good. I've personally purchased Stone Vertical Epic Ale there and as of a week ago it was still available there. They have a good selection of Stone brews there, Sierra Nevada (they get Bigfoot yearly and also the Celebration Ale). Anchor brews including the Christmas Ale yearly, Samuel Smith, Chimay, Fuller's, and Spaten beers are also readily available. The staff is ultra-friendly as they have me on a first-name basis. Prices are very reasonable and the selections of wine and spirits are excellent. Overall a great place to buy beer.
