This first beer from Newport Storm continues to be one of its most popular. The goal was to create a flavorful ale where delicate malt and hop flavor were in perfect balance. To meet this goal, the brewing crew uses North American crystal malt for color and sweetness, and Munich Malt for body and mouthfeel. The perfect amount of spicy Tettenang hops are added for flavor and aroma which compliment the bittering properties of the Magnum hops to round out this session brew.

Not a very good beer. Especially for the price. It taste malty with a gross hint of caramel. This is generally a beer that is best avoided.

12 oz. bottle poured into a 16 oz. mug. Minimal short lived head with no lacing inspite of a strong pour.
Slightly hazy amber color with white head. Faint aroma of malt and hops. Sweet malt taste up front finishes with a dry astringent bitterness. There also a peppery bitterness that lingers. Meduim body with low carbonation.
The freshness date is noted by "freshness before date notched". All twelve months are on the right side of the lable however no month was notched. An average offering.

12oz bottle marked freshest before Aug from AC. Dark amber color and malty/caramel nose. Tastes continue the malt and caramel theme with some tartness on the finish - not sure what it is. Not a bad beer.

Hurricane Amber ale pours a darker amber color, with a small, barley lacing head. Mellow aroma, hints of roasted malts. Flavor is very toasty, nice roasted malt undertones, but a harsh chemically aftertaste. Good full beer. Overall, has some nice flavors, good full body, but a very harsh and unpleasant aftertaste.

Appearance - The brew pours a deep red amber color with a tiny white head. The head fades fast to leave a light level of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell - The aroma is a mix of caramel and grainy aromas. Along with these aromas comes some light yeast and grassy hop smells.
Taste - The taste begins with a bready and sweeter caramel flavor with a little bit of roastiness. As the taste advances some flavors of brown sugar and toaste come to the tongue. I'm the end a little bit of nut and herb hop come to the tongue, leaving one with a sweeter, somewhat sugary taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel - The body of the beer is slightly lighter with a carbonation level that is moderate. Overall the feel is decent and makes it rather easy drinking.
Overall - While nothing out of the world, it is easy drinking. An OK brew for events like tailgating and hanging out for longer periods of time.

I tried this at the Marriott Hotel in Newport, Rhode Island. It poured a clear amber with thin white head that did not leave any lace. The scent had malt hints. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with some caramel malt presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its a decent beer.
