Appearance: Hazy medium-amber with some orange highlights - pours with a creamy, off-white head, leaves a decent ring and some lacing
Smell: Grassy, weedy hops - not "weedy" as in dank, weedy as in this smells like weeds you'd pull out a garden - not 100%, but I think this aroma is due to the New Zealand hops - beyond the weeds, there are some nice floral citrus aromas, grapefruit rind - nice malt backbone - lightly sweet, with some caramel, lightly toasted
Taste: Better than the aroma - nicely bitter, with some sharp grapefruit peel, pith and pine needles - very dry, lacking anything I would describe as "juicy" - spicy, and very earthy - leafy, herbal - caramel malts, some dry biscuits - asprin-like bitter aftertaste
Mouthfeel: Medium body, nicely smooth, nicely carbonated, nicely drinkable
Overall: IPA = "India Point Ale" = 2edgy4me
The aroma is pretty odd, but it tastes good. This is a solid effort from Newport Storm. Perhaps not the "masterpiece" as described by the brewers, but it's worth a try.
