Light amber color. Scarce white head.
Very english smell, with lighlty caramel malt, tea, and maybe something spicy (cinnamon?).
Resolute taste, spicy, with characteristic note of malt, caramel, green tea, liquorice and orange marmelade. Quite bitter, too.
Other spices, maybe orange peel.
Average body, with a good persistence, smooth and clean.
In the aftertaste some more hop, english.

500 ml brown bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. Bottle conditioned (?), ABV is 5.5%. Clear amber to brown colour, moderate head. Strong sweetish and hoppy aroma, notes of strawberries, blackcurrants, figs, caramel and Christmas pudding. Pleasant flavour with moderately sweet fruity notes, some biscuity notes and caramel too. Distinct hops throughout. Soft and pleasant mouthfeel. A nice Christmas ale this one!

500ml brown bottle, BBE OCT 07. The label says it's a Christmas Ale, supposedly based on the recipe of Cornish Knockers by the same brewery. Served cool in a straight, imperial pint glass.

A: slightly hazy amber hue with an off-white, thick & creamy beer head with o.k. retention;
S: buttery biscuity maltiness dominates the theme, with touches of honey, sweetish creamy nouget, faint trace of apple-syrup, and residual note of boiled chestnuts, backed by a flow of lightly sour-sweet hoppyness at the back. A touch too sweet for my nose but pleasant all the same; rather like a Scottish ale~~
T: mineral-elements, hays, semi-light-bodied maltiness with plenty of tea-ish, hayish and earthy hoppyness to play with on the palate; floral and tea-leafy hops follow along with refreshing nuttiness and lin...gering bitterness in the long aftertaste. Overall it shows a lovely contrast b/w the nose and the palate.
M&D: refreshing and lively, however this beer has a body firmer than the palate suggests. Very solid brew and even "quaffable" for a X'mas Ale.
