Bottle into a snifter
A: Hazy deep orange, no head
S: Wheat, rum, raisin (and not to plagarize but I get the circus peanut as well)
T: A bit of cream soda, toffee, wheat, and a sweet fruit I can't place
M: Full-bodied, smooth, somewhat sweet
O: Overall I'd say this has aged well and is a good example of the style

Somehow this is the 13th vintage of this beer i've had, (2001-2013). At some point I stopped caring about them, but seeing the last bottle of this vintage at a random shop piqued my curiosity again. "Ages 2-5 years" proclaims the label, it doesn't say anything about cabernet barrels, and doesn't really smell or taste like it either.

Pours a bright saturated orange, until the suspended yeast particles start to seep in halfway through the pour. Momentary skim that fades fast, leaving a thin ring of clumpy bubbles around the edges.

Aroma is all musty cork at first, with a sticky sweet oxidized malt element creeping in. Smells like old, oxidized beer. As it warms there's and oddly medicinal olive brine note.

Tastes ok in the sense that it's not bad, but it's not really good either. Syrupy sweet, heavily malty and yeasty, stale bread and year-old hefeweizen. Full bodied, slick and viscous, mellow carbonation. Warming alcohol, slightly nutty.
Overall I didn't really enjoy it, I remember the more recent drafts being better on draft.

The evolvement of Two Brothers' weisswine is quite tough to follow. With a twist or a turn in each year, no two flavors are quite the same. And with a few years under its belt, this '13 vintage shows maturity along with power.

Bare Tree '13 pours a golden snow globe. With proteins in suspention and a moderate honey haze putting its gaze across the session, a unique experience is about to unfold. A malty sweet scent seduces the senses and lures the nose close, saturating with caramel, honey and candy to suggest circus peanuts. Its taste is just as vivid as to give impressions of deep toffee, saltwater taffy and pulled candy to one again suggest those childhood candies, along with a vinous muscat fruitiness.

Equally as complex, the taste is full steam ahead with the caramels and doughy tastes. Woven complexities rise from beneath and tie into the taste with stone fruits of apricot, peach and cantaloupe. With the candied sweetness firm, and the finish looming, the taste of pawpaw, strong rosé and clove close the taste with a hint of minty hops with a light sawdust tone.

Full in a sugar-rich body, the flavor profile trends light and lessens the brunt of the beer although much of it might be psychological. Still, a mild carbonation allows for full saturation of flavor and a weighted play on the tongue. Warm and sweet, the taste finishes like creamy port wine with an herbal undertone.

Bottle bought at Beer Temple in Chicago, early September 2015. Love these series! A wheat barleywine that is not quite a wheatwine... or a barleywine. Ages gracefully, drinks easy. Grassy notes, earthy feel in the saison style. Some raisin and subtle sweetness. Vinousness.
