Poured from the bottle into a wheat ale glass.
A muted yellow and slight light brown edged body, opaque in appearance with a good amount of carbonation. Head is bleach white, and very creamy growing almost three fingers tall off the pour, and settling to a nice whipped up thin puck.
Classic Hefeweizen nose, with minor lemon but a very good bubblegum sweetness. Chewy and fruity with a very solid malt wheat backbone. Real nice inviting sweetness on this, very nice.
Palate has all the trademarks of a good hefe, but it's a bit watery and fleeting. Light chewy wheat density with good bubblegum like sweetness. Clove like finish with a good wheat like bread sense on it. Lemon notes hinted on the nose are quite muted, with a nice simple chew.
This is pretty solid, just missing some body that would give it some good depth, but it's a nice stateside produced hefe to know about.

It is another of the ongoing series of interminable snow days and as such, I am continuing to clear out my backlog of beer. The upside is that it includes a decent depth and breadth, allowing me to do horizontal tastings, among other things. Right now, it is Two Brothers' turn to be followed by collaboration beers.
From the bottle: "With nice malty sweetness and a soft aroma of clove, vanilla, and banana, this German-style hefe weizen is unfiltered for a glowing orange haze."; "Two Brothers is a craft brewery on the outskirts of Chicago that specializes in rare and seldom-brewed beer styles. I had no compunction about stirring up any lees that nay have formed during this beer's storage. As such, I inverted and righted it several times, then placed it back in the reefer to allow the carbonation to settle back down. My heavy-handed pour created a finger of dense, off-white head with moderate retention. Color was, as advertised, a cloudy yellowish-orange (SRM = >9, < 13). Nose was more banana than clove and I could not discern vanilla. It is precisely the banana esters that I do not like which leaves me cold about this style. it is actually possible to bring out the clove esters by cold-lagering the beer, but most places do not have the tank space, inclination or time to do it this way. Mouthfeel was medium and the taste was banana with vanilla. Hey, what happened to the cloves? Aha! They reappeared on the finish, giving it a crisp dryness. Not bad, but just not my cup of tea.
