Cloudy amber-yellow with two fingers of white head; good duration and decent lacing on the glass; good start. Better nose than I expected--plenty of banana, vanilla, clove, and ginger--very impressive smell.

More sweet than spice on the taste, banana take charge in Ebel's. Yet the vanilla and ginger are well represented in support; delicious beer. The texture is terrific--light, effervescent, and pillowy, just the way a good Hefe should be. Ebel's is very good Hefe.

I'm a little embarrassed to say I've passed on Ebel's a few times, not because I wasn't interested but, rather, because I had a few other items in hand, and because other heavier styles had grabbed my attention. Ebel's is more than worthy of grabbing a sixer or two. In the warm weather, Ebel's will be an absolute delight.

Excellent Hefeweisen. Two Brothers has done an admirable job on this style, and deserves considerable praise.

Thin white head fades quickly to a mere wisp of a ring on top; thin but pretty lacing. Light gold color, nicely cloudy.

Aroma and taste are spot on for this style. Not THE juiciest or most tasty example but really very good. The banana and clove notes pop out; the slightest hint of malt sweetness. Very faint bitterness on the swallow. No hop character to speak of, as is appropriate for the style. Authentic.

Mouthfeel and carbonation are crisp and quenching. Short, dry finish sends you back for me. At less than 5% ABV very sessionable; could drink this all day on a hot afternoon. Great summer refresher. Good job, another impressive offering from this brewery.

Was surprised to see this at a restaurant just down the street, so I decided to support the local brewery.

Color is a bright golden with a noticeable cloudiness. Served with a good two fingers of foamy white head, which stuck around for longer than expected. Aroma is noticeable of tropical fruits and, to a lesser extent, yeast. Flavor was wild: nice maltiness then banana, clove, and coriander. Finished with a slight sweetness.

Overall a very good beer. I am admittedly not a fan of wheats, but this was one hell of a beer with some crazy flavor action going on. Can't say this beer is going to change my opinions of wheat beers, but I certainly am glad to have had the opportunity to try it. Drinkability is good, though I, personally, just couldn't see drinking too many of these in a single sitting.

The beer puors a hazy golden with great orange tinting apparant. The head is not very big and gone quickly. The lacing qualitly is still pretty good though. Great smell of vanilla, banana and slight clove/nutmeg. (The vanilla is the dominant aroma.) Really nice tasting weizen. The vanilla is a little more subdued on the tongue, as opposed to the nose. What I like the most are the spicy pepper accents and the sweet quality, which borders almost on being cloying, but is not. Mouthfeel is about medium maybe "medium-full." Just a tad syrupy. Easy drinking however. Nicely done Weizen.

I'm starting to take note of what these two brothers are doing down there in IL. Pretty good stuff (except for the Iditorod Imperial Stout).

Outstanding. Just outstanding.
Pours a dark yellow, almost gold and the clove-wheat smell is immediate. The taste is perfect hefe. Two Brothers is doing good things in the area and this one tops them all. Had it in bottles previously, but on tap it becomes something much, much better.

Reviewed from notes. On tap at the brewery.

Pours a hazy yellow color with a white head and a bit of lacing down the glass. The nose brings some banana and bubblegum along with a bit of clove. The taste is more of the common German weizen yeast characteristics as well as some light grain and bread. Light body with good carbonation and somewhat creamy. This is a pretty good American take on the style.

Lightly chilled 12 oz. bottle into a weizen pint glass. Best by date on bottle 4.12.13... whoops! Well, it's been in the fridge since January.

Look- Light amber, mild haze. Three fingers of loose, crackly white head that falls very quickly, minimal lacing. Poor retention and stick for a hefeweizen.

Smell- Sweet, white grape juice, melon, light spice, more banana than usual for the style, quite fruity. Floral, fruity, juicy with a sharper twang. Almost lemonade-like.

Taste- Sweet, very assertive ripe banana and light brown sugar. Bready finish, almost oatmeal like. Banana bread and 'nilla wafer comes to mind. Overall impression of sweetness, but by the finish it's cleaned itself up with a clean white tea bitterness, soft citrus pith, more white grape juice. Not quite like any other hefe I've had before, I'm liking this a lot.

Mouthfeel- Medium-full body, moderate carbonation comes out up front. Slick, almost heavy feel. Finishes soft, powdery, mild coating. Heftier than anticipated, but seems to suit it.

Overall- I'm not a huge fan of the Hefe style and not particularly enamored with Two Brothers, so my expectations going in were moderate at best, particularly with the beer being past it's best-by date and all. At this point I'm just disappointed that I only have the one - if this was available around here it'd make my go-to list no problem.

Another light offering to try on a hot day. the pour was really nice with a rich and hazy and very light pale yellow color. A large, two inch high head of white came up over the top and settled down gently into a light and fluffy layer that all it took was a few seconds to wisp away. Lots of carbonation could be seen coming up from the bottom of the glass throughout the session.

The aroma was light and very pleasing. A light banana and clove like smell comes at me with the first whiff. Sweet, almost bubblegum like presence, and we all know that all too familiar strain of yeast that makes it just really stick out in a crown. Flavor came through right away, light and very bright with a light grain base that was quickly overshadowed by a light fruit like flavor that really just shined right through. Quick and clean with the lasting flavor of banana stuck on my tongue, this was simply done very well. Light body with a great amount of carbonation in it, I was shocked by how smooth and easy this one went down.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a 20oz imperial pint.

Best by 05/09/08

A: Pours relatively clear until you get down to the last inch of beer in the bottle. Give that last inch a few vigorous swirls and finish pouring into the glass. Instant perfect cloudy hefeweiss! Bright orange and completely cloudy with a ton of suspended sediment. Creamy and bright, off-white head retains for a while and leaves a fair amount of lace in the glass.

S: Big spicy nose of banana, clove, coriander, tart lemon, and orange peel. Various other spices floating around in there.

T: Tart and tangy citrus coupled with banana, coriander, toasted malt, spice, clove, mint, green apple, and some grassy hops that pop out during the middle and finish.

M: Tart and chewy. Thicker and oilier than I expected. Nice dose of tangy fruit, mellow yet peppery spice, and the aforementioned hops. Long, dry and spicy finish.

D: Extremely refreshing and criminally easy to obtain here around Chicago. This is a fantastic summer beer!

Pours out a translucent pale yellow color, with LOTS of yeast at the bottom of the bottle. Of course, I made sure I dredged up all of that yeasty goodness. Freshness on the bottle says best before 5/1/11, and it was part of a Two Brother's variety pack from the local warehouse club store. Anyway, beer smells wonderful with lots of estery banana, vanilla, and clove aromas. The taste is more up front clove and smooth banana-like finish, backed by some tartness, perhaps from the hops. To me this beer is about as good as any Hefeweizen I have ever tried from any country. I suppose one could travel to Bavaria and find something better but since freshness is everything I will stick to domestic varieties and in fact, this is the second local brewer I feel has nailed it, other one is Mickey Finn's in Libertyville, IL. The mouth feel is full and rich, slightly carbonated but that contributes to the drinkability, especially on a warm summer day I'm thinking...I have been sampling several Two Brother's Brews lately and overall I'm extremely pleased. I might just end up going on an outing one of these days to Warrenville....hmm.

Last beer while attending the Hop Juice Fest yesterday was the Ebel Weiss beer from the host brewery. The appearance was yellow in color and cloudy. There was a nice thin white head after the pour. The smell was real nice with banana and spice (sorry for the rhyme)!!! The taste was also very good....well balanced between banana and clove/spice. This beer was certainly easier on teh pallete then some of the other beers tried at the fest....certainly because the abv on this was less than 8%. Definitely worth a try.

Beer poured from bottle into tall Hefeweizen style glass

A - Beer poured with a golden cloudy colored body; visibly well carbonated; one finger white colored foam formed after pour with a moderate amount of lacing

S - Fruity; yeast like scents and aromas; slight hint of lemon sourness; wheat follows up with typical hefeweizen like tones

T - Slightly sour notes; fruity lemon zing; yeast; flavors wash out pretty quickly; tiny malt backbone rests behind the flavors

M - Effervescent; refreshing and crisp; smooth feeling on the tongue; quality balance of a wheat and yeast blend

D - Great drink; not a fan of Hefeweizen's usually but I can drink this one over and over again; I was really impressed; this comes highly recommended
