A very pleasant surprise from Two Brothers (and my buddy Jim B for setting me up). I've had mixed luck with the Biere du garde style but this one is a winner. Pours a luxurious brown with a slight head; the aroma and taste is delicious with a notable hint of caramel. Very drinkable at 5.9% - very well balanced between malty sweetness and hop. It's on my shopping list...
Edit 3-24-2012: Tried this again and ws not as impressed as in 2011. It was still good but didn't make as big an impression as last time. Not sure if this is due to variability in the brewing or an artifact of the style - biere du gardes have been quite variable in my experience.

12 oz. bottle with a 20 June 2014 date stamped on the label.
Pours clear, medium-dark amber with a creamy tan head that has good durability and leaves fine lacing on the glass.
Aroma is malty with faint hints of vanilla and spices.
The flavor features a solid, medium malt base with hints of herbs, orange and grapefruit. Changes with warming.
Medium body with very fine, soft, medium-high carbonation.
O: Refreshing. An interesting, easy drinking and complex brown ale.

Arrives a gorgeous copper color, clear as a mountain stream. Decent head retention and really good lacing left behind by the reddish-tan foam as it dissipates to its final state, alight ring.
Smell is weak but malt, wheat/grass and yeast. Balance is very good, though.
Taste is similar with notes of lightly roasted malt, caramel, grass, and yeast. Very well balanced.
Medium body, maybe a touch over, light-medium effervescence. Slight warming after the swallow. Smooth, reasonably clean finish. A nice brew for certain.
