Cane and Ebel pours in to my glass a deep copper golden color with amazing clarity. The head begins as a biscuit of dense, firm foam. The lacing was a real treat to see, as defined rings mark each sip until the last.
The smell is crisp spicy rye, green leafy hops, a hint of grapefruit and sweet malt with a toasty undertone.
The taste is sweet caramel, toffee, flavorful rye spiciness and pine resin from the hops. The label lists 68 IBUs, this actually comes across as something less. The bitterness is moderate and the finish is somewhat dry. Very nice, indeed.
The carbonation is moderate and sits well on a medium-light body.
This was very enjoyable. A spiced American IPA perhaps? This is a beer that is very well made and an excellent example of what a beer can be. Well done.
