At first, it seemed all hops all the time on the nose, with a strong resiny aroma...however, as it opens up, the palm sugar is noticeable with a small sweetness and a note of spicy rye. It's a good nose.
Initially, it has a really good and firm floral/piney bitter snap to it...comes across just like an IPA to me. Then, the slight spiciness of the rye is evident although not as much so as many other rye beers so I don't believe it's quite as prominent in the making of this beer...although still present. On the finish, the palm sugar provides a small sweetness that seems more evident as it warms and helps the beer wrap up on a pretty solid mix of resin and sugar.
All in all, very very tasty. I just wish it wasn't so expensive and hard to find!
