Presentation - Brown 1 pint 6 oz bottle with catchy red orange and yellow label. Pours into my German stein, stein is bigger than 1 pint 6 oz, cool!
Appearance - Dark brown, with a luscious frothy tan head that rapidly rises to about a finger and remains for quite a long while. This stuff isn't a black color so much as very deep deep dark chocolate colored. Or for that matter very dark espresso. Mahogany around the edges. Lacing goes allll the way up, remaining with me the whole drink.
Smell - Not so much here, there's some malty smell, perhaps a cream note, and a coffee smell. To my surprise the coffee isn't all-consuming, blotting out the beer smells. Toffee maybe too?
Taste - This is a somewhat constrained porter, and the coffee is restrained even more so. This almost could pass as an oatmeal stout, in that it is strongly flavored, but gentle nonetheless. I had not drank this for a while, expecting it to be super rough and not mellow at all, but this is mellow if nothing else. First note is a roasty MALT taste, rather than coffee. There's then a pleasant coffee appearance, not bitter at all, but flavorful, although a bit one dimensional in its (non) complexity. Then there's the toffee and caramel that the porter needs followed by a HUGE wash of sweetness and chocolate, borne on a bed tasting slightly of cream. Then warm alcohol tones and then a roasty, almost crisp finish. This is an awfully sweet beer for such a crisp finish, but it works well for me.
Mouthfeel - Remember I said it could pass for an oatmeal stout? Well it's creamy as an oatmeal stout too, if not even more so. Basically imagine the high viscosity of a strong imperial porter married to the silkiness of an oatmeal stout, all the while buttressed by a thick ass fluffy head and low but adequate carbonation.
Drinkability - Lowered the score here just because this is thick shit, but not easy drinking thick shit. More like sip and savor. Too sweet to drink in any quantity I feel. Not a session brew. Add the caffeine to that and yeah, not a session beer.

Chocolate caramel and coffee notes. Bit of an alcohol taste up front; more than I'd want. Not as full bodied as I thought by the ratings. There definitely could have been more coffee flavor. Decent beer but not a 90 rating.

Having been re-released after a 3 year hiatus, I can understand why enthusiasts for coffee-in-their-porter couldn't wait... and probably bugged Two Brothers for the re-release.
I give it special point for being in the extreme level, but still balanced. The malt is burnt, but not too much. The hops are their, but don't get in the way of tasting the malt. While perhaps a little thin in the mouth, the aftertaste proves that this has balance.
