Corked and caged bottle. Pours a light amber color with very little head and no retention or lacing. Seems flat. The aroma is very fruity - apricots or peaches perhaps. Also smells quite sweet. The flavor also has the fruit character along with a slightly bitter finish and smooth body, much like a weizen. Some clove and spice in there as well. The body is medium, but a touch syrupy. The alcohol doesn't seem too apparent to me and the drinkability is pretty decent.

Got this one in a barleywine bif ages ago. I believe it was from mikeseraser

a - opened with no pop and the cork looks kind of musty. A hard pour yeilded less than a finger of head that was gone pretty quick after the pour. Brew was semi transparent with some yeast floaties.

s - smells like musty alcohol. Some lemon, orange, yeast, alc sweetness.

t - odd. Musty. Alcohol sweetness. Lemon lime orange wheatiness.

m - soft carbonation, thin for all that heat.

o - overall fairly meh. Barleywine wheat beer...exactly what you would expect, maybe a bit sweeter?

Thanks to rjacklin for this possibly interesting beer.

Pours very slight fizzy head fades almost instantly, hazy murky yeast sediment laden golden honey colored.

Nose starts with cork, it's def corked, and a bit oxidized, some wheat aromas, hint spices and straw, some apple cider. Pretty much cork and apple with hint of wheat.

Taste isn't much better, tons of Apple cider at first, then yeasty bready flavors, wet cardboard oxidation and nasty cork. No wheat, little slimy even, light bitterness and bit of warming booze. Tons of dried apple.

Mouth is med bodied, light warming booze, little slimy, no carb.

Overall meh, it would probably be good without the corked and oxidation. That's too bad, wish I had this fresh now.

Thanks to JLindros for sharing.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a clear apple juice hue with tons of floaties. Very very little head but nice light lacing.

S - Aromas of apple juice and....cork. ah oh well.

T - Taste is more corked flavours. Faint apples and wheat but this is mostly cork. Very unfortunate.

M - Mouthfeel is very lightly carbonated. Accurate for the style.

O - Overall this beer yyou could tell at one point was very nice but now tine has not been kind. Very unfortunate.

Bottle shared by oglmcdgl and sourbatchkid, served in a glass. 2008 Vintage.

Bare Tree goes in the glass a light amber color poking in some very burnt orange as well. Looks on the lighter side of a barley wine, yet this is a wheat wine according to BA. The inch of off white foam comes and goes leaving some suds on the side.

Smell is old wheat mixed in with some grain and not a ton of alcohol. That's what gets me, I cant smell a trace of the supposed 11.5%. I get a lot of apple juice character with some pale malt backing and faint spice. Does not smell like a barley wine at all.

And for a wheatwine, this comes off like a medium apple cider with some alcohol zing. It's big, but comes off smaller than 11 point whatever. Not overly sweet, not hoppy, some fruity apple and pear with old wheat backing. Bavarian wheat without the banana and a strong base.

Feel is less than medium, the carb is very tame at this point, this goes down more juicy and with no hop intrusion as with most new wheat/barleywines. This is one of those big beer that I can take down with no problem and not think a thing of it. There is something about this beer that is unique, and with 4 years on it, and how much flavor I get, i can tell it was crafted well, whatever it is.

12.7floz bottle into a Captain Lawrence Glass

A- Pours a murky golden honey orange with tons of yeast particles floating around. Less than a finger bright white head that goes away fairly quickly. Not much lacing but some really nice alcohol legs on the side of the glass.

S- Really sweet caramel and toffee barley malts with lots of wheat as well. Lots of citrus, lemon peel, banana, cloves, spices, and a nice alcohol finish.

T- Just like the aroma. Sweet wheat malts and honey with a nice breadiness. Banana, citrus, lemon peel, all that jazz comes out strong. Some alcohol in the finish but hides it very well.

M- Medium bodied with moderate carbonation and a nice wet full finish.

SkÅL!

Served in a snifter

Thanks to TMoney2591 for sharing this vintage beer from parts quite local

This beer pours a very stagnant orange color. Almost no carbonation to speak of, but that's not always a terrible thing. Now as for a wheatwine, this is fairly unrecognizable. Most of the components of this beer resemble that of an imperial pilsner or saison or something like that. There is a sweet white grape aroma that translates over into flavor as well. This beer is very dry. It's almost like a wheat-brut. There is a musk that almost resembles brett, though not enough for me to declare this beer full of brett. There is a oak wood flavor that makes it taste almost cask conditioned, and it's really silky smooth in that fashion as well. It's a good beer, not great, but really good.

Served in a Three Floyds tulip pint glass.

I've had this sittin' around for a while now, figured I'd pop it open and see what it has in store. It pours a clear sunrise amber topped by a half-finger (at absolute best) of off-white foam and populated by some major floaties. The nose comprises dank cedar, white wine, sour green grapes, and mandarin oranges. I'd expect this kind of smell from a mild white wine, but not from this bottle. The taste holds notes of mandarin orange, light orange peel, banana, very light grapefruit, unsalted crackers, and some light white grape. The body is a light-ish medium, with a very light moderate carbonation and a thickly slick feel. Overall, I don't think time has been too kind to this beer. It's not all bad, per se, but it is not something I ever really want to pop again.

Picked this up at Lakeview Binny's shortly after it was released - probably early 2009. Served in a Russian River tulip.

A - Pours with a thin white quick-dissolving foam that settles to nothing - no ring, lace, haze, etc. Transparent golden body.

S - Mold, pond water, lemon detergent, and a hint of malty sweetness. Reminded me of White Birch Indomitus a little bit.

T - Taste is a bit better. Mostly bland, light malt sweetness, and a moldy pond water finish. Tastes corked.

M - Almost no carbonation. Slimy medium body, some alcohol warmth.

D - This was the worst of a number of bad beers we tried. My experience was pretty much on point with BuckeyeNation's, so it's not clearly not an isolated "off" bottle. Avoid at all costs.

Appearance: Orange and hazy

Smell: Citrus like

Taste: Almost like a lemon peel was added in the brew finish

Mouthfeel: thick and milky like

drinkabliity: superior for a 11% drink

A - murky orange/amber color; sticky lacing; minimal head

S - light citrus, lemon, orange; clove...banana

T - Tart, yet sweet. Clean finish, pleasing melon quality. Complex

M - creamy mouth feel; medium light bodied

D - Easy drinking but complex; weird...in a good way. There is a lot going on

This is a great beer for white wine drinker.

Bought this bottle when it was released and has been in storage since. Started with an epic struggle to remove the cork. Corkscrew, towel, and gloves to release the beer. Never fought a cork in any bottle like this one. Clear amber color with one finger of head that quickly settled to a thin cap. Moderate amount of spotty lacing is left on the glass. Nothing too impressive with the look, certainly nothing to alert me of things to come.

Aroma was a complete surprise. Vinous and spicy indicative of a tripel or something of Belgian origin. Spice is like cloves and pepper while the fruit is like grapes and pears. A little bit of bubblegum just adds to the intrigue. Very complex.

The flavor just reinforces the Belgian impression. Hints of pears and honey. Not as much spice as the aroma indicated but still get some cloves and pepper. Dry charactor overall. Absolutely no sign of the 11.5% ABV. Remarkable.

Surprisingly light body for the ABV. Plenty of carbonation but stops short of interfering with the favorable impression I have of this beer.

Absolutely delightful beer. Surprised to see that my review is skewed much higher than the consensus. I think this is the best Two Brothers beer I have ever had.

Somewhat fuzzy, pale amber color. Has a great mellow earthy aroma-downright musty. Mild pear/apple like sour fruitiness. Great flavor-tropical fruits, oak, yeasty. Good mouthfeel. Very nice beer overall. I like a good wheat wine but this has a great "aged" flavor that makes it all the more complex. I bet even young this is a great beer. Very nice, somewhat on the lighter side, of a nightcap.

another night of epic tastings before i have to take a forced long break. i decided to go with six more new beers last night and had a really fun time with them. served in pint glass and consumed on 11/05/2010.

decided to crack this one open last and 11%, wtf! pours out a nice ruddy brown color with a smooth head of white that quickly fades and leaves behind only token lacing that is really hard to pick up at all.

aroma id earthy, hints of honey, bready notes, touches of light grass and a pear like fruit note. nothing really coming out at me as being terribly strong. flavor was somewhat similar with a light earthy taste and a smooth and even profile, but just nothing really breaking through on me as being out of the ordinary. light grape flavor in the finish with a honey like flavor left on the palate.

overall the most remarkable thing here was that the abv was no where near detecable. amazing drinkable if not a touch bland.

Pours an orangish brown with a bit of a white head. The nose brings pepper, pear, light fruit, mild grain, and a bit of banana. The taste is mild spice and some light fruits including pear and maybe some other stone fruits. Light wheat, which contributes to the mouthfeel, although there is certainly some booze there. In the end, a bit cloying, but pretty good.
