Just noticed the best before date of 2/13/13. I'm starting to think the selection for a mix-six is all expired beers that the store is trying to get rid of.
Appearance: Pale honey hue with visible effervescence and decent clarity. Frothy one finger off-white head.
Aroma: Grain and citrus bitterness.
Taste: Clean and intense bitterness throughout without any real hop flavor. A malt bill of caramel, a touch of amber, and a bit of peppery biscuit flavor. Sort of an average for the style. Not much of a 'wow' factor but also no off-flavors. There is a nice crispness to the finish and a dry factor that leads to a lightly bitter aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Medium in body but feels lighter at times. Average carbonation and easy drinkability.
Final Thoughts: Outlaw IPA is a pretty middle of the road IPA. At 6.3% it's just above sessionable range but there is definitely enough malt and hops to keep the palate interesting. Would I drink it again? Yes, if fresh.

Date stamp says "swirl by 1/20/14."
12 oz can served cold into a shaker pint glass.
Despite sitting calmly in my fridge for weeks, Outlaw decides to gush everywhere when I open the can. I get most of it into the glass and, once it settles, leaves some nice lacy strata. It has a copper color and very good clarity.
Aroma is very hoppy but not all that fresh. It has an old hop character similar to an aged barley wine.
Flavor is that of an old IPA. Not that fresh but still fairly bitter. Pine and dried fruits dominate.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and nicely carbonated.
Overall a disappointing beer but, in all fairness, it's past its prime.

Can > Bowtie Pint
A - Clear yellow gold with two fingers of fluffy off white head, little patchy lacing.
S - Sweeter on the malts, caramels, citrus juice, grapefruit especially, grassy a little floral.
T - Very bland, some medium grassy and floral hop tones, bread malt flavor comes ahead of the sweeter malt tones. Just basic.
M - Lighter on feel, well carbonated.
O - Very basic and lacking in a flavor that is noteworthy.
