I bought this as part of an M&M 6pk from Everett's in South Beloit, IL for $9.99 in Summer 2011.

Pours a clear golden amber color with a fluffy white head that makes for a great appearance during those hot summer days. Scent is a nice blend of caramel malts and noble hops giving it the authentic German Pilsner scent. The taste is comprised of soft mellow grains that compliment each other very nicely. It also has some hints of citrus and a slight spice as well that finishes nice and crisp. Quite a refreshing summer beer that isn't too heavy or too light.

A-Clear yellow, some carbonation and one finger head.

S-Toast, wheat, grass, not getting much, if any, of the caramel malt.

T-Toast and wheat. Here the caramel comes through more. Mild grass and no bitterness.

M-Light, semi dry and semi crisp finish.

O-When cold the beer is enjoyably but as it warms it takes a turn for the worse.

$ 2.19/12 oz can at Vintage Estate
Swirl by 08/27/14 can at 40 degrees into a snifter
Aroma – very faint aroma of malt and flowers
Head – average (5 cm), white, frothy, rapidly diminishing to 8 mm island
Lacing OK – small islands and reefs of small bubbles
Body light yellow, clear
Flavor very delicate, some malt; no alcohol, no hops, no diacetyl
Palate light, watery, soft carbonation

To me, this seems to have little flavor. The appearance is good although the lacing could be better. Both the aroma and flavor are very light and delicate; to my overloaded IPA-favoring taste buds there are hardly any of either.

Out of the can, the beer has a crisp lager flavor, a hint of grassiness, a light biscuity malt, and then a German herbal hop presence. It dries off leaving a bit of bitterness from the hops.

The body on this is decently light.

The general, the beer is quite lacking in flavor and malt.

Easy drinking, but actually quite disappointing.

Poured from a 12 oz. can into a tall pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a bright and clear straw golden orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. Big three finger white head which slowly fades into a thin patchy layer. Leaves a decent amount of lacing.

Smell: A bready and fairly sweet malt forward aroma with good hints of biscuit and cracker. Upfront malt with bready hints of biscuit, straw, cracker, caramel, grains, and yeast. Earthy hints of Noble hops. Subtle fruit hints of lemon, apple, and orange. A pretty solid lager aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a crisp, bready, and fairly sweet malt driven taste with nice notes of biscuit and caramel. Bready malts with some upfront notes of biscuit, caramel, cracker, straw, grains, cereal, wheat, and yeast. Solid earthy backing of hops with some notes of Noble hops. Light fruit notes of lemon, orange, and apple. A nice crisp Dort lager flavor.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Crisp, clean, and nicely smooth and drying on the finish.

Overall: A pretty solid take on a Dortmunder style Lager. Solid crisp bready taste with a nice backing of Noble hops.
