Had on-tap at the brewhouse on 8/27/11. Review from notes.

Arrives to me in a standard US pint glass, with very little head. What is there is whitish and thinly covering the top. Beer itself is copper brown, with some visibly active carbonation along sides. Fairly average looking.

Smells mostly like malt, sweet and caramel-like, some toasted character. Simple, yet effective, this has a fairly strong scent that I don't have to go searching for.

Taste is similar to smell: strong malt character, slightly toasty, tempered with what I assume is some intrigue provided by hops and/or aging in the oak foudre. This is probably the first time I've picked up on anything that could be from Two Brothers' foudres. Would have never guessed that this was 7.7%, completely undetectable ethanol all the way through.

Mouthfeel is medium-heavy, where I could believe the original gravity and resulting alcohol are most noticeable. Carbonation is adequate, but could stand to be a notch higher. Finish is sweet, but dry; not sticky.

This was an interesting Oktoberfest to have on tap. Certainly unique in terms of flavor. Would like to try more of this, either on tap or bottle form.

Appearance - Pours about a finger of off-white eggshell head, color of the body is a lightly hazed orange amber, the head disappeared in a few minutes, and left no lacing in my glass.

Smell - Light oak, roasted malt, dark toffee, freshly baked wheat bread, brown sugar

Taste - Much like the nose, , begins with slight woody oak, wheat bread, sweetness from brown sugar and toffee, some light roasted malt, and hints of nutmeg - finishing with some more oak, wheat crusts, unsweetened molasses and some light minerals and light earthy hops.

Mouthfeel - Almost medium, beer is flavorful but not bold, carb is lower side of medium and smooth, with a few edges at the sides of the tongue. Feels slightly on the watery side for a 7.7% beer, drinkability is good.

Overall - A good flavorful fall beer, oak flavors are interesting and fit well with the other flavors. A good fall beer, and worth a try.

S - Skunky, herbal, some light grass, sweet malts, a little bit of burnt grains
T - Overly sweet taste, artificial kinda sugary sweet, baking flour, wheat, malty, slight red wine on the end.
M - Cloying flavor semi dry feel, alcohol burn.
O - I really did not like this at all, way too sweet.

Poured from bottle into a standard pint glass.
Clear copper in color, with a nice two-inch head of white foam.
Aroma-Pale malt note
Taste-Cracker malt, pale malt, subtle oakiness and warming alcohol in the finish. A nice, balanced mix of flavors. A good match for roasted chicken.
