Poured from a bottle; the beer was a nice copper color that was almost transparent. The head was about one finger width.

The beer has a sweet malty smell and had what seemed like the hint of wheat behind it.

The initial taste was very surprising in that it did not taste like an Oktoberfest at all. There wasn't much at all to the taste in the beginning. In the middle, the toasted caramel taste that you would expect from an Oktoberfest was noticeably absent. The beer has an extremely sweet, but thin finish.

Overall, this beer did not live up to the claim on the bottle that it was a full bodied lager in the Marzen tradition. It also lacked the promised complexity that was supposed to come from being aged in French oak foundries. This beer came across more like a summer ale than an Oktoberfest.

Lacked some depth that I expect from an Oktoberfest. True to the claim on the bottle, it is a unique twist on an Oktoberfest but unlike the claim on the bottle it is not "unmatched" by other imported Oktoberfest lagers.

Poured from a 12oz bottle best by 1/12/15 into a pint glass
A: Completely transparent burnt orange with a one-finger head
S: Tons and tons of sweet malt, hints of baking spice and caramel
T: Matches the nose though the sweet malt (reminds me a bit of creamed corn) is a bit overwhelming compared to the other components
M: Medium-bodied, again a bit sweet here too
O: The sweetness needs to be toned down a bit. If it had a bit more of the spice that's there and needs a bit of a hop note which I found completely absent

look: 3.5 | smell: 3 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3.25 | overall: 3.5

A-a bright orange caramel color with a thin layer of khaki head

S-bready caramel, bit of earthy hops

T-caramel body with a light bit of hops, not the most exciting of tastes

M-medium body, carbonation is a bit on the light side

Overall it's not a bad beer by any means, just a bit one dimensional, still easy to drink

9/1....pours shiny copper, small foam layer. Mostly clear. Woodsy, oaky nose. Slight whisky note. Taste is a mixed up blend of malt, oak, whisky, vanilla. Smooth, creamy. Slight medicinal boozy flavor. Interesting for sure, but not all there. Points for creativity.
