This black beer is a Bohemian Pilsner gone dark. German malts, noble hops, and lager yeast combine for our take on this traditional beer style. 28.1 IBU

Picked up a bomber of this at my local liquor store yesterday.
Pours a dark black with a huge "root beer" style head. Great retention with thick globs of lacing on the sides of the glass. This beer has a very appealing look!
Aroma is mellow. Nothing super amazing going on here. Mostly malts.
Taste is a nice balance between malts and hops and finishes with a dry bitterness. This beer is simple, but good. This beer is rich and satisfying. The dry bitterness on the backend keeps me coming back for another sip.
Overall this is a good beer. Very enjoyable, but not anything that is over the top amazing...just a good beer!

Front lit the beer is a dark chocolate color and back lit it's deep ruby hughlitghts. A nice head rises to a tan froth settling slowly.
Nice aroma of Euro hop possibly Saaz and english malt roasted nicely with a scotch ale nuance and also a bit of smoke.
A deep dark malt flavor with the smokey and roasty toasty. Honey malt of a pilsner is in the mix. Nice subdued hops provide the balance.
Mellow, smooth mouthfeel.
A very nice lager from the bros.

A: A dark brown pour with a large tan head atop it. Retention is good and leaves small lines of lacing on the glass.
S: Pretty mild aroma. Mild chocolate notes with some roasted malt. Hints of toffee and a bit of dark fruit. Finally, a touch of caramel.
T: Strange taste. There are notes of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Some dark fruit and caramel. Things you would expect from a schwarzbier. But it tastes like it was mixed with a pilsner; a black and tan of sorts.
M: A bit watery but otherwise smooth.
O: Very unique beer, as mentioned it tastes like two styles combined. Ends up dark with a bit of roasted malt character, but notable pilsner characteristics and a fairly thin profile.

Poured into a snifter.
3.5 A: Black color. Two fingers of cramy tan head. Retention is average and a honeycomb pattern of lacing is left behind.
3.5 S: Clean roastiness, herbal and earthy hops. Grainy with undertones of caramel and chocolate. Good, but could use some more power. Not particularly sweet, but not dry at all.
3.5 T: Taste is more assertive. Big earthy hoppiness, light roast, moderate chocolate, light caramel. More doughy than grainy.
3.5 M: Medium to heavier medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Could use a bit more creaminess, but I do like how thick this is.
3.5 D: Good, solid schwarzbier. This one is a lot less dry than most of that I've had of the style. Definitely worth a buy if black lagers are your thing.

Blind Beer #3 from TMoney2591; thanks Kyle. Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into my Cigar City snifter.
a - Pours a very dark brown color, almost black, with two inches of dark tan head and moderate carbonation evident. Head lasts for about a minute and leaves very light lacing on the glass.
s - Smells of milk chocolate, roasted malts, sweet milk and cream, sweet dark fruits, spices, vanilla, and maybe a tiny bit of coffee. Sweet chocolate and vanilla dominate the nose…it's pretty nice. I'm thinking it is an American Double Stout or a Milk Stout at this point. As it warms up, a lot more dark fruit comes out.
t - Tastes of roasted malts, vanilla, cream, sweet milk chocolate, toasted malts, spices, very light coffee, and light sweet fruits. Again, sweet vanilla and chocolate dominate here, though there is more vanilla and less chocolate here than in the nose. Still think it is one of those 2 styles, leaning towards the American Double Stout as the taste wasn't quite as sweet as the nose. A little spicier. As it warmed up more dark fruits came out here as well.
m - Medium body and moderate carbonation. Very smooth and creamy, and very easy to drink again. Third beer in row that had an awesome mouthfeel…makes it much easier to drink these.
o - Overall I liked this one quite a bit. Lots of sweet vanilla and chocolate with a touch of spice, and an awesome, smooth and creamy mouthfeel. I'm thinking this is an American Double Stout in the 7-8% ABV range. It reminds me a little bit of Half Acre's Big Hugs and given my targets geographical location, I am going to go with that as my guess.
And the reveal is…Two Brothers Reprieve, which is a Schwarzbier (and only 5.5% ABV). Looking at the label I'm thinking those spices I felt were from the rye, and can definitely see how the chocolate and roasted malts could make it a schwarzbier. Looks like I got more cream/vanilla than most people. Only 1/3 on styles so far but 3/3 on beers I enjoyed so I'll take it. Hope these keep being good and I don't hit a kill shot, though there is a large blind can looming in the fridge that looks like it could be a Bud Ice tall boy. After a California Steam, Quad, and Schwarzbier, I'm thinking I'll have to think out of the box regarding beer style from here on out. Lots of fun, thanks Kyle!
