Reviewing based on its current state in June 2017. Pours a somewhat murky brown-orange, in the range of a typical unfiltered wheatwine. Some floaties and sediment at the bottom of the bottle to be aware of. Smells of plum and gumdrops, with hints of pineapple, lychee, and other tropical fruits--partly due to oxidation, which is certainly taking hold of the steering wheel. Much lower carbonation on the tongue than was suggested from the fizz on the pour. Malt-focused on the palate, primarily sweet but with just a touch of tartness that is surprisingly restrained after so long developing in the bottle. Quite enjoyable for an older drink.

2011 vintage; drank 6/18/14 @ Fischman's.

Poured from the bottle into a glass.

Murky bright orange hue.

White head; almost no lace.

Apple cider nose.

Thick mouthfeel.

Spiced cider, apple sauce & banana flavors co-mingle; unique but just a hair too sweet.

Really a strange but likable beer. I did no know what to think when I got this in a trade so I cellared it for yet another year.

A) dark gold with hint of red . Initially a two finger head that went away over five minutes. Some lacing.

S) smells wine like, grapes and sweet fruit dominate. Perhaps cherry smell

M) moderate carbonation ,and a thin mouth feel again more like a moscato than a beer

T) hard to explain. Tartness that is mild initially gives way to sweet fruit. I get a little died fruits like plums .

Overall a different style than I'm used to but very pleasant to sip on. I never had fresh but there is little alcohol burn although I'm clueless to the constant, my guess is not too strong anyway. Very likable sort of sour.

From tasting notes. L: Pours hazy prune tinted amber under a sudsy off-white 1” lacy foam collar. S: fruity malt nose with a hint of sherry. T: Melon, plum apple, caramel, pepper – not a big hop presence and not a lot of wheat character. F: Full body, medium low carbonation. O: A pleasant, easy to drink barley wine.

Picked up in a trade with ksecler. 2013 vintage poured into a stemmed tulip.

Pours a light amber/straw-like hue, one inch white head dissipates to a small ring with noticeable lacing, slightly hazed with a small amount of sediment. Aroma is malty and fruity - hints of Belgian yeast in the mix as well. Big malt presence in this one, sweet red apples, burnt sugar, slight tartness and no presence of booze what so ever, finish is bitter. Refreshing and effervescent mouthfeel, light bodied but not thin.

Bottle (2011)

Acquired via trade
Thanks, whartontallboy!

(Aged for 2 years)

Golden orange with just a little bit of a haze. Largely clear, however. Small head and not a lot of retention, lace, or stick.

Wheat, banana, mild bubblegum in the aroma, along with a bit of black pepper, spice, and a citrus hop component, even after aging for a while.

Interesting combination of all of the above in the flavor as well. A bit of booze presence peeks through.

Slick medium bodied. Low-moderate carbonation.

An interesting take on a wheat wine. Not great, but sippable.
