Poured into a tulip glass at Fondren Public on my birthday.
A: A hazy copper with a tan one finger head that lingered a bit. Frothy lacing. Pretty.
S: Bring on the sweetness. Caramel malts mixed with dark fruits (raisins, dates, plums) and Belgian yeast.
T: Follows nose with candied sweetness that might turn some drinkers off. But I love it. I'm even picking up a hint of cognac. Light hops bring in a pleasant balance. This one is a sipper, even an after dinner drink.
M: Medium with medium carbonation. Nice frothing on the tongue.
O: If you don't like sweet beers, stay away. But for me, this was a pleasure. A fine respite after a hard day. Probably great with a cigar.

On-tap at Thirsty Monk, Asheville, NC
A: The beer is clear very dark amber in color. It poured with a quarter finger high off white head that died down and left a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and the sides of the glass.
S: Light aromas of earthy yeast are present in the nose.
T: The taste has a slight bit of sweetness and has notes of earthy yeast and hints of dark fruits.
M: It feels medium-bodied and smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer seems a little fruitier compared to other beers in the style.
