(Served in a tulip glass)
A- The bright crystal clear copper body has a gentle carbonation of microbubbles and a lumpy off-white head that last a good bit.

S- The candy esters come through during the pour but fade a bit in the glass. There is some soft lightly toasted malt and green raisins notes that take on a bit of a new sneaker aroma as it opens.

T- The nice candy sweetness has a toasted marshmallow hint to them and some green raisins notes. There is a lightly toasted malt flavor mixed in followed by a soft tartness to the hop hint in the dry finish. The dry toasted malt flavor lingers becoming just a bit sweet as it opens.

M- The medium-light mouthfeel has a crisp fizz on the tongue and no alcohol heat noticed.

O- The gentle hops support a nice mellow malt flavor with some good depth and a sweetness that is cut nicely by the fizz. This beer really adds depth as it opens up.

On tap at the Two Brothers Round house is a new beer called Diversey & Lille, named after the first brewery in Chicago (or the location of the first brewery...can't remember what bar keep said). It is a session ale that has been dry hopped. The color was a clear amber with white head that laced. The smell was mostly malt....didnt smell much hop. The taste was very sweet and got sweeter as it warmed. The body was medium with good cabonation. Overall it was ok...I can see why they serve in 10oz glass. Apparently one of the Ebel Bros went to France to collaborate on this recipe.

On-tap at Thirsty Monk, Asheville, NC

A: The beer is clear very dark amber in color. It poured with a quarter finger high off white head that died down and left a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and the sides of the glass.
S: Light aromas of earthy yeast are present in the nose.
T: The taste has a slight bit of sweetness and has notes of earthy yeast and hints of dark fruits.
M: It feels medium-bodied and smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer seems a little fruitier compared to other beers in the style.

First had: on tap at City Tap House, Philly, PA

Collaboration between Brassserie Castelain (Benifontaine, France) and Two Brothers (Warrenville, IL, USA). The French and Americans getting along? Get out.

Poured a clearish reddish-amber color with a small beige head; moderate retention and lacing. Nose is sweet with malt and candied fruits, toffee and light spice. Taste is similarly sweet, malty, big fruitcake sensation, toffee, bit of earthy hops and phenol in the finish. Medium mouthfeel, slightly chewy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. A little off overall for the style, strangely almost more reminiscent of a hefeweizen or something. Decent, but nothing special.

A coppery amber color in the tulip glass. The head is a little deficient. Smells like dishwater with some manila rope.

An odd metallic sort of taste. Plum skins is about as much as I can put words to. It doesn't really taste like much of anything. A tangy mouthfeel, a very light body, but not much carbonation. Inoffensive, but not what I'm hoping for in this usually interesting style. There are so many good Bière de Gardes I am spanking this one. What ever it is, I think the brothers should have stayed out of it.

On tap at Pizza Port in San Diego. They called it an "Amber Bière de Garde."
