12.7oz bottle, looks larger than it is...
I wasn't sure about pouring the yeast or leaving it in the bottle, so I opted to pour it into the glass revealing a murky, syrupy, golden colored ale with a nearly non-existent head - only a thin ring of white foam. Aromas are sweet and pleasant with wheat, yeast, honey, booze, juicy fruit gum, mandarin. Tastes are similar to aroma - hot booze, wheat, juicy fruit, mandarin, yeast, honey, faint clove and banana. Mouth-feel is thick, chewy, syrupy, full body - too full? Lower on carbonation and is definitely a sipper. Overall, maybe I should have aged this a bit to let everything meld a bit; the alcohol is pretty hot. It was good, but cloyingly sweet at times. The mandarin flavors I was picking up were somewhat distracting as well.

L: Pours hazy amber under a ½” cream colored foam collar that gradually reduces to a thick, sticky film. S: Fruit smells tropical, guava or perhaps apricot spiced with clove and coriander. T: White bread, tropical fruit, coriander, clove banana, citrus, with a moderate hop accent. F: Medium to medium full body, medium low carbonation O: this has more wheat character than the 2011. Good Wheatwine.

(Served in a snifter)
A- After wrestling the cork out, there is a very gentle carbonation with lots of micro-jetsam swirling around a clear slightly dense aged copper body with a thin snow white head boiling away.

S- The metallic weizen yeast ester aroma has a touch of sweetness to it and some peppery phenols mixed with circus peanut esters that turn to banana notes.

T- The sweetness turns brassy as it opens and leads to a sweet ester finish with some alcohol taste. Then a bitter note lingers in the aftertaste.

M- The medium-light mouthfeel has a faint hint of fizz and turns more watery in texture with an alcohol heat in the finish.

O- This beer has some nice big spicy phenol and strong yeasty ester but the watery body with brassy bitterness so grow to strong.

Into a krug the beer pours a murky saturated orange, visible yeast and a good finger of foam rising on the surface. As it sits, the foam settles and leaves behind a sticky halo of lacing, and retains a head well. After a few sips the surface still remains unbroken.

Banana creme pie aroma right off the bat, big banana esters, big wheatiness.

Impossibly creamy and smooth, slightly rich and slightly sweet, very tasty. As it warms there's a vague hint of alcohol, not unexpected. Praline and caramel drizzled bananas, along with some whipped cream fluffiness.

Think NG Imperial Weizen. Simply enjoy it for what it is, don't get too hung up on categorization.

Pours like a low-carbed wheat beer with plenty of sediment swimming about. A bit of lace and legging comes from a thin collar of paper white.

I'm surprised by the amount of bright wheat notes on the nose. Pale fruits... green apple, banana, white grape. Plus a good deal of traditional weisse beer stuff... clove, fruity yeast, cereal malts. I like it; the alcohol is well integrated.

In my opinion, this is what a wheat wine should be like... an imperial hefe, not overly sweet and not overly boozy. Well executed I think.

12.7oz bottle from Powderhornphil (thanks man!). No bottling date but I'm pretty sure I can narrow down the year... Served in a Boulevard tulip snifter.

Pours murky faded gold with a half finger of near white head. Head fades to a ring around the edge that leaves sparse dots as the only hint of any lace.

Smells of clove, yeast, bananna bread and pear.

Taste is strongly yeasty at first but as it warms many layers are revealed. All of the elements of the nose are there and then some. Bananna, cloves, pear, caramel, honey, wheat, citrus peel, marshmallow, bread, apple and simple syrup. A sweet mix with pleasant booziness present as well as that strong yeast character.

Medium thick, near syrup-like body with light carbonation. Long sweet honey/yeast/ alcoholic bananna cake finish.

Perhaps the most Belgian wheat wine I've tried. It came around as it warmed and turned out to be pretty darn good. I'm glad I was able to trade for two so I can try this again after another year or two. I think this will develop nicely.

375ml from the recent release into a tulip.

A: Pours a golden-yellow body with a dense but small white head.

S: Lots of unmalted wheat and herbal esters in the nose. Banana and cloves, cream.

T: Follows the nose with plenty of wheat notes and fruity esters. Stone fruit, raw wheat, cloves, cakey pale malt. Light alcohol warmth on the end.

M: Medium-bodied with creamy carbonation.

O: Essentially a strong hefeweizen, which isn't quite a bad thing, but is sort of odd when you're calling it a "Barley Wine Style Weiss Beer."
