"Swirl by 8/30/15"; drank 5/1/15 @ the Yarchives.

See-through yellow appearance.

A rough pour yielded a HUGE bright white head; a curtain of lace.

Dandelion funk & pineapple notes in the nose.

Medium thin mouthfeel.

Dandelion funk & pineapple flavors up front; lemon bite on the finish.

A balanced, flavorful session ale. I'd have another.

Really solid pale ale. Definitely something I'd bring to a summer BBQ. Smooth melon hops up front with the classic citrus bitter hit. Lighter body for a pale ale, but I like it. Makes it a better session beer, and I always want more tasty session beers.

The appearance has a very clear and a very bright yellow colored body with fast rising carbonation seen, one finger white head quickly dies and leaves some clingy lacing. The smell has some straight up piney, citrus, hops with some subdued malts. The taste has some sweet yet bitter and almost peppery at different times, dry sweet aftertaste and a quick bitter finish. The palate is light, somewhat sessionable, adequately carbonated and also is good for me. Overall, this is a good session APA that is flavorful.

Review from BA Mag Issue #117 ( Oct 2016 )

Level, Fruity, Crust, Quenching
Big on citrus from rind to zest, pith to grove. SideKick is hoppy enough to quell that desire, and its crispness pops while the maltiness is dry and bready. Overall, the flavors are very well placed, and meld together nicely to focus on balance and drinkability. It is Pale Ales like this that demand the biggest mug you have and then a proper session to enjoy it with. Much respect for a style that doesn’t seems to get the attention it deserves. [Jason]

A - Light gold color, slight haze but mainly transparent, white head, extensive lacing.

S - Pine, first, lemon, second, and a soapy note. Eh, not great but not terrible.

T - Opens with quiet lemon and passionfruit, no real sign of malt, a bit of grape flesh. Very strong turn toward bitterness in the close, but without aspirin.

M - Prickly. Very light on the tongue. Drying close.

O - Close. Nice fruit, but sharp bitter close. Highly drinkable, but without much scope. Leaves me reaching to find much beyond the bitter close.
