Notes/Commercial Description:
Laughing Panda takes his beer with green tea. This brilliant golden IPA has a fruity tropical aroma and a pleasant astringency from the genmaicha green tea. All finished with a light malt backbone with a small touch of hilarity on the tongue.

Poured into tulip; clear golden with a big fluffy white head that leaves lots of spotty lacing. Smell is hoppy, pine mostly. Taste is sweet and nutty, slight bitter piney hops and a hint of green tea. Mouthfeel is effervescent and medium-thin. Overall a delicious nutty-malt IPA; don't get much green tea but it's there. Two Brothers always have an interesting take on styles.

A shade or two lighter than amber, very nearly but not quite clear, this beer forms a tight but sizeable head on the pour. Retention is good. Some stick is shown as a modicum of patches and spotting is left as it falls.
The hops come out of the aroma without having to be coazed, and it's a nice bouquet of tropical fruits and pine, but any pithy or resinous notes are offset by an almost sugary note, which itself is offset by the bitterness, making for a well-balanced tandem. Green tea doesn't disrupt anything but is present without much of an herbal quality.
The flavor likewise reminds me that this is, first and foremost, an IPA, and a solid one at that. A bit of mintiness comes out with mostly tropical fruits but light citrus also. Green tea isn't too subtle, though a bit, and builds up slightly as the session goes on, and displays itself most in the finish. I actually get a very lightly spicy nip as well.
Crisp up front and continuing, the medium body holds it well and a light to medium level of carbonation contributes to a good smoothness.

Pours a vivid, clear amber with attractive head of white foam. Big, loopy tree-line lace.

Nose is deliciously green -- hops definitely and maybe a hint of the green tea essence coming through. I get more creamy citrus and succulent tropical fruit, though. Absolute bliss.

Taste is definitely hoppy, but with something else -- tropical fruit definitely. There's a certain mellowness to this brew, which could be the green tea. Regardless, it's very tasty, hoppy, and very drinkable.

As a serious tea nerd, I had to pick up this bomber, and I would easily again. Here's hoping that Two Brothers will bottle this one more regularly, and maybe make available in 6-packs. I'd do this again in a heartbeat. Absolulutely delicious and different.

The Laughing Panda is a decent IPA....different than most and worth a try. The beer poured a clear (I was careful with the pour) orangish golden color with thin white head that is leaving some lace. The scent has some sweetness, hints of pine and I guess a flare of tea. The taste is on the sweeter side to start then a nice bitter enters which brings some citrus and pine. There is a twang in there that I guess would be from the green tea. The mouthfeel is fuller in body with smooth carbonation. Overall this is a decent beer and I am glad to have had the chance to taste it.

Pours a hazy golden color with a short off white head that settles into a light ring.

The aroma is quite sweet. There is a candied tropical fruit note that mixes with a sweet bready malt. Some apricot notes. Too sweet.

The taste is similar to the aroma. Quite tropical with candied apricot. I don't really taste any of the green tea due to the candied notes. Some pepper spice. Overall not very pleasant flavor. Tastes like an old IPA.

Moderate feel with fizzy carbonation. Sweet on the palate.

Disappointed that I don't pick up any green tea. Tastes like a sweet old IPA.

Saturated orange with bright clarity and plenty of rising carbonation. Off white foam on top that rises above the rim momentarily, and leaves behind sheets of lace in the glass. Long lasting coverage on the surface.

Sweet cantaloupe and fruit cocktail aromas.

Flavors of grapefruit pith, cantaloupe, and light bitter greens in the aftertaste (the tea leaves maybe). Slightly dank and citrus-forward, sweet orange marmalade and caramel malt undertones. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation, sticky on the lips. Overall it's a bit sweet, and drinks more like a double IPA, but it tastes and smells great.

Bottle purchased at Nathaniel Square Corner Store in Rochester, NY.

Pours a clear light amber, with a one inch head and a lot of lacing towards the top of the glass.

Smells like piney/leafy hops mixed with some sweet green tea aromas.

The tastes follows pretty similarly. The green tea is a good a mix with the piney and leafy hop flavors. Some sweetness from either the green tea or the malts- probably the malts, as the sweetness is a bit caramelly. Sticky sweet finish to this one.

Medium bodied, sticky mouthfeel, good crisp carbonation. Very drinkable.

Green tea is a great adjunct for IPAs, and should be explored further. Really liked this one.

A: The beer is hazy yellowish amber in color and poured with a quarter finger high white head. This died down but consistently left a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and a large collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of citrusy and tropical fruit hops are present in the nose along with some hints of candied sweetness.
T: The taste is similar to the smell and has notes of green tea along with a light amount of bitterness - tangerines seem to stand out of in particular.
M: It feels medium-bodied and slightly crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is easy to drink but I can only taste a faint amount of green tea. It would have been nicer if the green tea flavors were more prominent.

22 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. Ahh yes, after a couple of months I am finally getting around to trying this brew, a new green tea IPA from the local Two Brothers Brewing Company. Haven't had a new beer from these guys in a while, and the idea sounds intriguing, so I'm excited.

Poured into a clear balloon snifter glass.

A - Pours two fingers of soft soapy off-white head on top of a light golden-orange colored body. Some nice fluffy strands of lace. Looks pretty enticing.

S - Smell is pretty fresh and inviting, also. Fresh squeezed oranges, tangerine, grapefruit, piney hop resins, lots of dank hop bitterness, a hint of soapiness, & some light bready biscuit malt in the background. Some herbal lemongrass imparted from the green tea.

T - Oh yeah, this is pretty good. Not nearly as biting and bitter as the aroma leads you to believe. Lots of light lemony citrus and herbal grassiness, some cucumber, authentic brewed green tea leaf flavor & sweetness, white sugar, slight graininess, and lots of bready maltiness on the finish. As I let it sit a little, a sort of white peppery taste seems to creep out.

M - Smooth, wet, and oily. Sticky, bitter, and dry on the finish.

Overall, I thought it was a great take on the same old boring everyday IPA, and I definitely wouldn't mind seeing this beer entering Two Brothers Brewing's regular line-up of beers. Would definitely have again; recommended.

Two Brothers Laughing Panda Green Tea IPA ---4/5.
