A - A red amber with one finger of head that dissipates in about two minutes. No lacing.

S - Concord grape juice is the first thing that comes to mind. There is a bit of a caramel malt aroma. It is a pretty nice smell - maybe not for an amber ale, but that aside, it smells good.

T - Strong bread, like a Saloio flavor, meshed with a touch of sweet, cheap red wine. The finish is a fairly bland bitterness with a lingering grape character as well as some raw millet. All and all, I'm rather pleased. Not sugary like the smell led me to expect.

M - Thin, frothy and refreshing.

D - This is a pretty good amber ale. It is a style with a ton of variety and this one is certainly interesting and an easy drink. Sessioning is natural and it's smooth fairly subtle bread and red wine taste makes pairing completely natural. A nice brew for sure.

Yum. The aroma is rather understated with a nuts and toffee approach. There are also some hops in there as well. The appearance is deep amber with an average head. The flavor bursts with caramel, chocolate, toffee, nuts, butter, and some grassy hops. The palate is smooth from carbonation. Overall this is even better than I expected.

i have to disagree with the other reviews of this beer: working as a beertender here in Florida, i have never once recommended this beer and had someone not like it.

It is a great replication of an english mild or amber ale by Wild Goose, probably the best beer they make (that we can get here in FL).

From a variety case, this pours a clear amber into my glass.

This tastes and smells a lot like an ESB to me, but that's ok, it's still good beer. The aroma is a little plain with vanilla cream and roasted toffee. The flavor expands more with caramel along with the toffee, a roasted note, and then a long spicy hops not at the end that fades slowly in the aftertaste.

Overall it's very tasty and and very drinkable. Not world-class, but still a good ESB and worth sessioning.

P- Beer Express in Harrisburg

A- pours a nice clear and fresh looking amber color. Light lace and light head.

S- no defining smell on the beer but i get malts and caramel.

T- caramel and roasted malts. Tastes like bottom of the barrel maltiness. bitter and somewhat sweet.

M- dry and weak on the alcohol flavoring. Somewhat like malt water.

D- Easy to pound back and not half bad in flavor but i have had much better english style amber ales. Nugget Nectar to name one!

One of three brews I haven't had, brought back by my inlaws from a friend that is 'not into fancy beers.' An appreciated gift!

A: A deep reddish amber... nearing a brown hue. A little on the dark side, but still rather nice. An aggressive pour brings quite a creamy head with a decent retention... some even latticing around the glass edges.

S + T: A light and subtle aroma & flavour... a nice kiss of malts, with a very light balance of hops. Fairly straight forward, but certainly decent on both.

M + D: A nice, creamy and chewy medium body - carbonation is about bang on, and the flavours are complemented beautifully. Very suitable, though the aroma and flavour would do well with a little more oomph or complexity - either route would do it wonders. A solid 'B' beer, and one that would be welcome in the fridge.

Pours a nice deep amber color with a small but dense cream colored head that dissipated into a sparse cap. The aroma is very faint, I pick up some bready slightly buttery malt, not much else. The taste is of a bready malt, with some stale grassy hop bitterness, that balance each other out. There are some hints of chocolate and metallic notes (rust). The feel is light and fizzy carbonation; finishes astringent. A run of the mill amber ale. Not a big fan of the style as it tends to be ho-hum, so take it for what its worth.

12-ounce bottle with a 'best before' date of "195FX08" (a stupid, stupid method of freshness dating, whatever the hell it means) poured into a pint glass yields a clear copper-amber body capped with a finger of fine-bubbled pale ivory foam that retains at a broken sheet and leaves wispy lacing.

Smell is malty and lightly sweet with just a touch of caramel and earthy, floral hops.

Taste is rich and malty, with a nice dry biscuity character overlaid with syrupy semi-sweet caramel and spicy, floral notes of Fuggles hops. A dryly-sticky chocolatey malt persists in the aftertaste, leaving a podium for the hops to linger a bit, still putting out savory, spicy essences of edible flowers and a clean note of bitterness.

Medium-bodied with good flavors and nice carbonation, this beer is pretty drinkable and refreshing.

Pours a nice copper color, although with just a little head (that goes away very quickly) and no lacing; it also has an extraordinary amount of carbonation. Nice scent, very heady, a nice deep malty scent. Excellent taste, a nice amber ale with a bit of sourness reminiscent of an Irish red. Goes down well, with just a bit of roughness from the over carbonation.

A - A small tan head forms and then quickly falls without leaving much lace behind. Swirling increases the head a bit, and a little bit of foam is left behind. The beer is a translucent light brown/amber hue, and sort of reminds me of a pumpkin beer.

S - Grassy hops figure prominently in the nose, and some nice toffee malt tones back it up. Could be a bit more assertive.

T - Lightly hoppy and tangy. This reminds me quite a bit of SA lager, and it has some characteristics of a pale ale too. Some nice hops are the main source of flavor, while the malt notes provide a good deal of balance. I can taste some mineral well water notes, and that's a bit of a let down for me.

M - Light bodied with a crisp carbonation and a hoppy midpalate. the finish is slightly dry and barky/woody.

D - Not bad. This is one of those beers that while tasty, will fall into the crowd as just another plain old amber ale. This one is notable for it's lovely hop bouquet though.

Pours a clear amber with a slightly darker tint. Flavor is tanged and bitter. Kind of a bit much. Slightly too much caramel character there. Feel is okay. A lower carbonation. Overal this is an okay beer. Nothing crazy really. Not something to rush to the store to grab.
