Pours a dark mahogony color. Fairly thick with a bit of a head that dissappates quickly. Strong plum character and other dark fruits with a caramel-like sweetness. Some almond character as well. A slight bit of spicy hops, but mostly is a strong fruity sweetness. Not a bad winter beer.

This beer has an excellent ruby red/maroon color to it. It has no head whatsoever except for a few lingering bubbles around the edges.

Roasted and caramel malts shine through on the nose. There is a bit of an odd herbal hop aroma coming through, but the malts steal the show.

This is a very balanced tasting brew! It masks the 6+ % very well. It's mostly toasty malts, with a hint of drying bitterness on the end. There is some residual sweetness, but not too much.

Very well done Snow Goose. I heard Flying Dog is discontinuing this line after this season and it's sad. This is a great beer.

Reviewed from notes.

Pours a moderate brown with a fairly thin head. A bit of the head remains after some time, although the remainder doesn't leave much lacing as it goes down. The nose has got a surprising amount of hop activity with a good amount of pine and citrus. Some caramel and light molasses in the back. The taste brings forward some of the hop elements without too much bitterness. Some light doughy flavors with a bit of toast. Light to medium body. Drinks pretty well overall for a winter warmer and certainly bucks the insane spicing trend.

about 45 degree F into a pint glass
A- dark ruby. 1 finger of head with fine lacing and moderate retention.

S- spicy and malty, very promising

T- weak body, vanilla, acidic and slightly astringent with a mild metallic aftertaste

M- a bit watery and sharp

D- could be better, reminds me of a recent tasting of Killian's. Dissapointing; not bad but I sure would not seek this one out.

A= chestnut, little head, hardly any rim or lacing.

S= nutty, some dark fruits, some liquor, some interesting hops.

T= Nutty, slightly dry like chocolate, apricot, maybe apple, modest hops, a little malt but more like dark dry roasted malts.

M= slight puckery dry tartness and some astringency, some lingering remnants of the taste.

D= very nice overall, I can handle a few of these without getting bored.

A: Pours a darker gold bordering on reddish with not much head.

S: Generally clean; some hops but not much more really.

T: Sweet caramel malts lead to a nice hop zing and some citrus, which leave the mouth pleasantly coated and numb.

M: Juicy with a nice hop bite in the aftertaste.

D: From Wild Goose: one fairly drinkable beer coming right up!

Appearance - Pours a cloudy red-orange color similar to apple cider. Large, frothy, light tan head that slowly dissipates. Maintains a small layer of head as well. Light to moderate lacing.

Smell - Not too much smell to this beer, but I detect faint hop characteristics and maybe some malt in there. Underwhelming.

Taste - Thankfully a lot stronger than the smell. A bitter, dry, piney hop flavor dominates this beer. I taste some caramel malt as well, and maybe some spice back end. Not as complex or exciting as I'd hoped for.

Mouthfeel - Low carbonation, middle to light body presence, and a very dry finish.

Drinkablity - This beer is much more of a sipper than a drinker due to its dry finish. Did not care for it too much to start but "warmed" up to it the more I drank. Could have a few of these in a sitting.

I personally love this ale. Always look for it each winter. It has great taste and smooth finish. Very well done. One of the best winter ales and very drinkable. Not one of those seasonals where you can only have one or two at the most. The Maryland breweries are very under rated. Even my Ridgeback loves this one!

Pours a transucent light brownish color with a light rimming of gray head.
Smell is roasted with some hints of malt and maybe a trace of hoppiness.
Taste is solid roasted malt, shades of a coffee with some bitter finish.
Finish is ok, leaves a light malted after-taste for a bit.
Drinks pretty well, very solid warmer.

Pours red/copper with a medium sized tan head that disappears quickly to a layer of foam.

Aroma: This is mild...I get some hops, toasted malts

Taste is mostly of the toasted malts. Slight hop profile in the finish that creates a little sharp touch, but not too much

Mouthfeel is medium and crisp because of that sharp finish from the minimal hops.

Drinkable...I could have a couple, but its not the best winter beer I've ever had. Give it a try.

A: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a brownish color and a clear texture. There was a small amount of foamy head and some OK lacing.

S: Smelled mainly of roasted malt, caramel and a bit of hops.

T: A decent, if uninspired flavor of caramel, roasted malt and some hops. Tastes just like it smells.

M: A good amount of carbonation with a dry finish. Medium-bodied.

D: This is a drinkable beer, but there are definitely some better Winter Warmers out there.

A: pours a nice shade of brown with amber highlights. Small creamy head with light light.

S: Pine and Citrus hop aromas meld with aromas of sweet malt, toast, and caramel.

T: Flavor of caramel malts and spice. Nutmeg maybe. Light notes of orange and molasses.

M: On the fuller side of medium. Smooth, tasty.

D: Not too bad, a pleasant surprise.
